WTB: Your Junk Compact 1911

Kane

New member
Need a junk compact or OM 1911 receiver to build out my zombie killing carbine conversion. Will buy receiver or entire crappy pistol, any metal, any condition. Just need the bare receiver. Transferred according to law.

Now's your chance to unload that POS handgun.

Why not check out one of the 1911 kit makers and just buy what you need. I figure that might be easier and less expensive. I've sure never meet anyone with a junk 1911 compact that would sell it for parts. I have a RIA/Armscor compact I carry daily, though in expensive it is a great gun. You can get their bottom line version for about $380 and hard to find any 1911 much cheaper that will even fire. Just a suggestion.

Yeah, I know I can get a white-metal receiver, but I know somebody out there has a POS they would love to get rid of.

A carbine version in 45ACP? Ever shot one? I ask because it is like throwing rocks IMHO at 50 yrd....My cousin has a rather expensive HK carbine with plastic sights no less. At 50 we were finally able to get it zero'ed. But truth be known I have seen 1911's able to shot as good of a groups, abeit a very good 1911. I am thinking by 16" of barrel the 45ACP may actually be loosing speed before it exits the muzzle..

So let the zombies close get in close, and shoot fast!

Actually, I'm told a "16 barrel will result in velocities some 15%-20% faster than a 5" barrel (about 1,100 FPS vs. 950). It gives a 2-3" group at 25 yds., shoots fairly flat at 50 yds. with an 8" (head shot) group. I'm real happy with it out to 75 yards to be honest. Beyond that, obviously, it's like lobbing a rock ... if you can throw a rock that far.

Mine is set up with a 1X red dot scope (with a laser) and the accuracy is really about what one might expect with any gun when a 4MOA dot completely covers the bull at mid-range distances. The plus side, I guess, is using the same .45ACP ammo as the main battle pistol.

With a little Mustang in my back pocket, a 1911 on my hip and the carbine on a sling, I'm all set for zombies.

Anyway, beyond 75 yards it'd be hard to tell a real zombie from a typical FF user. Just sayin' don't want no accidents.

Rated for +P ammo, as are all their carbines. I own the 9mm and .40 cal, and both are flawless performers. Nice to be able to use pistol ammo with a carbine. I'm sure others will dispute their usefullness, But I have zero complaints. Oh, did I mention $318 Suggested Retail for the .45 ACP?

Check teh reviews and you'll not find many naysayers, except for the usual hardcore fanatics with lots of money to spend on ammo for plinking and the occasional zombie.

Well, maybe. On the other hand, Cowboy nailed a coyote with his Hi Point .40 at a range of 175 yards*. Considering that
44-40's were used at longer ranges in the 1880's, and that the modern .40 S&W has better ballistics, no one should
disparage the handgun cartridge carbines for varmints ... or zombies.

*Iron sights, by the way!
