WTB-Trailer for Activ Trackmaster

Anyone had any issues with just a regular deck over trailer and metal ramps? Petersonequipment has a maxey tilt trailer for 5k (that sound reasonable)

Thanks

I built 10 foot cleated "over-ramps" for my deck-over which had 6 foot metal ramps. I was too chicken to try getting loaded with steel grousers on steel ramps:w00t2:. I used 2X6 side pieces with 2x4 cross pieces and made a sturdy 4-foot extension for the bottom. This cleated assembly slips over the steel ramps and the 4-foot extension. Seems to give some security up and down from the trailer.

Wilson use the steel trailer get some old snowmachine track and gut them up and make a couple of runways to get up and down on

I picked this 12,000 trailer up reasonably cheap. It has multiple uses around here.

the ramps are real heavy.

I was able to find a depression to back into to reduce the pucker factor a bit when loading the cat onto it.

But the Master was happy riding piggy back. I like removable ramps.

my deck is 96" wide slightly wider at the spring pockets.

I am allowed 102 the master is 104. :whistling:

I went from the east coast to midwest through 5 states and two border crossing and a Ferry crossing to WI with no trouble. If it where to be used for the cat only I would have gone open
center and lighter axles.

I'm sure the one at Peterson's is really nice.... And if you're going to transport your machine frequently, maybe it's worth it.

KSL.com is a great place to find a used trailer. There's typically a bunch to choose from and there's quite a bit of turnover.

I found my trailer there. It's a 10,000 lb GVW car hauler style for $1,400. I have to use cribbing to get the tracks above the fenders, but it works well and I thought the price was more than fair.

Whoa , whoa , whoa !! There is a much simpler and easy way of doing this . Why have some big ass trailer that you need a 3/4 ton truck to pull .. This is what my KT3 has .

It is a tilt trailer. Very small, and can be towed behind a 1/2 ton truck or a car .
My buddy is building a copy for his KT3 . You want the measurement ??
I bet he could build you one and save you a couple grand .

Yes it pivots , I do not know the axle rating but assume it is about 3000 pounds .
When I trailered the KT3 back 500 mile on this trailer , it rode great even in the snow !!!

Good point, If you can afford to(or need to) have a trailer exclusivly for your cat to sit on, Lighter is the way to go. You know? maybe you only move it in and out of the garage ect..... ;-)

I needed a trailer to haul a rubber tired back hoe and a neighbor let that go for $1000 needing work. It works great for the snow cats,I can haul two snow tracs on it and or the tucker or the drag ect..... do you have needs in addition to the Snow master?

Would that work for a st4? I'm getting tired of my car trailer.
It looks like a steep climb to load.

I am sure it would . There is a video on the kristisnowcats.com website that shows one being loaded . A trailer could be extended out another foot or so to keep the loading angle less . I do know that my Kristi built trailer which is the same one as in the video is extremely easy to pull and tracks so well "even a Caveman" could trailer it !!!

pay backs Al is that why you can do it

i did just like this.
drove from Brussel to Muonio Finland.
trailer own weight 460 kg
The size is 1.8 meter by 3.3 meter.
you can put on it 2500 kg but i believe my snow trac weight only 1500 or so.
unfortunately i had to take more and more things with me so i guess the whole load was 2000+ kg.
To top it off, we filled the previa with Belgium beers.
it was a little much for the previa, it may pull 1600 kg but anyway i drove the 3000 kilometer with it like this and no problem.
Now i pull the snowtrac on the same trailer but with a 4x4 vw transporter, it may pull 2000kg so it goes easy.

Thanks for all the replies. Peterson gave me a great price on the trailer. Heading up tomorrow to pick it up. Hopefully, I will get my cat into some snow this weekend.

I just returned from a road trip where I towed BALTO my '62 Thiokol 1301 Swamp Spryte from Grand Junction CO to Sandpoint ID. I bought an '89 3/4 ton Chevy pickup ($2500), a 12' dual axle trailer with electric brakes ($1400) and I certainly used the steelramps to load and unload the snowcat. Yes it is a bit "slippery" with steel grousers on steel ramps but jeez it is only for 4' until snowcat is on the deck of trailer. I'll post photos when I can.

P.S. BALTO loves Idaho so much more than 11,00' in Colorado

that was a killer deal on a trailer wished i could get a deal like that i'm thinking i need a deck over trailer and a bit longer so i can fit the snow trac and trailer on as one

Yeah I thought it was an OK deal....but heck it was my brothers money... managed just 7.8 mpg on the haul up...I think the wind drag on the snowcat / trailer hurt...driving home w/o trailer I got about 12 mpg....trailer weight about 1400lbs; BALTO about 4200 lbs..2400 miles of bliss driving on the great american roadways.....I do like the wide open west indeed!
