WTB: Aktiv Snow-Trac

I am looking for an Aktiv Snow-Trac winter use here in Wyoming. I talked to the fellow in Waterford about the one listed on Craigslist there for $20K with trailer but that seemed a bit high, although it sounds like it had a total resto done.

WELCOME TO THE Snowcat Forums at ForumsForums.

With a total restoration, if done well, the $20,000 price is NOT at all unreasonable. Especially if it comes with the trailer.

I don't know a ton about these machines but was basing that on the one that just sold on the forum with a trailer for about $3500 less.

I sold an older restoration for a price that I was told was foolish. I should have asked $4000 more and not budged, and mine needed some work. I did not include a trailer. Mine sold IMMEDIATELY and I had a WAITING LIST of 5 people with cash in hand.

the one for 20 k was a well done resto, I also talked with the guy he didn't know much about them but followed the advice of those of us here on ff who have learned through the school of hard knocks. talking with him, if you were serious I believe there might be some wiggle room ,but he has put a lot of work in to it ,and would be a fair price for a ready to run rig one just sold here for 8 k in my mind it would be a start to a good project.

I paid $6500 for my trackmaster with out knowing squat about snowcats. Had I been on FF I could have probably got it for $4500. I have put about 9K into it so far. I think it is the simplicity of the design and how it functions that sucks you in.

I have 30k in atv's and snowmobiles that sleep outside so my baby has a warm spot in shop to be tinkered on. I have it BAD!!!

good luck, can't go wrong with a snocat.

hard to believe back in 83 my dad sold one just like that for 15 k.Lyndon later got it after the tracks were cut , think it only lost 5 k in value over time but 15 k back then was a lot more money than it is now.
