Of course, the Brits haven't the first clue about how to make a decent sandwich, and if one wants to enjoy one obver here then its gonna have to be a home-made sandwich... But, in any event, personally I wouldn't eat a store bought sandwich from anywhere. How about you guys?
For most of us, a fortnight-old sandwich can have only one destination - the bin.
But we could soon be raiding the fridge for last week’s lunches without a thought of food poisoning.
Scientists say they have discovered the secret to a longer-living sarnie, and it is being rolled out at corner shops and convenience stores across the UK.
The new sandwiches have a shelf-life of an unbelievable 14 days, with manufacturers claiming they are as good on day 14 as they are on day one.
The concept goes against everything most modern food suppliers stand for - with many taking pride in preparing food freshly every morning.
And while the humble supermarket sandwich normally lasts barely 12 hours, the new ‘super-sandwich’ sold by Booker, will still be safe to eat after two weeks.
The flavours include chicken tikka, ham and cheese, chicken and bacon, tuna mayonnaise and cheese and onion - all on oatmeal bread.
The range aims to minimise wastage for retailers and is aimed at the budget shopper, at just £1.49 a packet.
Steve Fox, sales director of Retail, said: 'Booker is committed to increasing our choice of products. They are convenient and with shelf ready packaging easy to introduce into stores.
'They look and taste great and with a longer shelf life than most sandwiches, they are ideal to reduce retailers wastage.
'I would encourage retailers to buy these products little and often to maintain fantastic availability and make their store a destination for food to go.'
