Men, listen up! Women who own pets are more inclined to date or marry a man who also owns a pet.

But before you run out and get a dog or cat, know this: Fully 56 percent of women say their pets are more affectionate than their partners. That's the startling conclusion of a BizRate Research survey of 901 pet owners. Hey, that's not all! About 45 percent of women say their pets are cuter than their partners.

When it comes to pets, women spoil them. Big time. In this study, women said they had a deeper emotional connection with their pets than men did. Fully 99 percent of the women acknowledged that they frequently talked to their pets, versus 95 percent of men, and an astonishing 93 percent of women think that their pets communicate with them, versus 87 percent of men. "The most loving thing we can do for our pets is to understand them better and learn their language," Jackie Hakim, founder, Healing Arts Dog Training, said in a news release announcing the study findings. "Our furry friends come wired in a certain way and being considerate of that can be the building block to a successful relationship."

This is how much we love our pets: Approximately seven in 10 pet owners report their pets make them happier than their jobs. And that translates into dollars. Pet owners are spending big bucks on all-natural dog food, sweaters, diamond-studded collars, booties, doggy day care, dog ophthalmologists, spas, and endless other goods and services. Women are inclined to spend about $50 to $100 a month, somewhat more than men are willing to spend.

This is odd: Fully one-third of pet owners would consider taking their pet to a pet psychic, groomer, or therapist. "While the majority of my clients are women, more pet owners are seeking deeper relationships with their animals," said pet psychic Patrice Ryan, Celestial Crystals, Inc. "The difference is, men come to me for more critical situations such as a lost or sick pet. Women want to know if their pet is happy and comfortable."

hmmm.. I've had alot of different pets in my life. But when my husband and I met I didn't ask him if he had a pet. I was more interested in him ( #1 pet). I didn't even know he had a pet until we were engaged. But yes, I do agree after we were married a few years, we did get a dog and a cat. I always had a dog growing up as a child. We've had 1 golden lab, 2 black labs and several cats in our 37 years of marriage.

Excuse me but what the heck is the difference between answers 2 and 4?

2 -- No, it has nothing to do with falling in love.
4 -- It wouldn't make a difference.

Don't both answers actually say the same thing?

How much did you know about him before you got engaged?????? Before I got engaged, I would want to know everything about the person, before making the decission to marry them. I always said that if you didn't like my dog, then I didn't like you... Junk...

Well, you see I was looking more for the human instincts in him not the animal..:D Oh you meant him having a dog??:yum: :yum: :yum: :yum:

My fiance had brought her friend over to the farm one day.. my dogs are very friendly.. one of the first things out of her mouth(in a mean tone) to my dog was.. "don't you dare!" I bit my lip.. but I was ready to tell her to take her ugly ass self & get the hell off my property. I have never liked her since.

The question refers to dating or marrying. Presumably you would only marry someone you were in love with.. however.. dating.. you may simplydate someone due to.. uh.. other factors / needs.. etc..

uh... If he ain't got no dog -- he ain't gettin no bone.

got to LOVE dogs.
(cats? I don't understand cats. Or people who own 5 cats.)

Well I must say we at least agree upon the cats thing. Cats while very good predators (get small rodents and such) offer almost nothing in return for your hard work. DOGS on the other hand love you and your family with out question and will defend "their pcak" to the death. In other words they will die to protect you. Well 95% of dogs would. Cats would just run away.
