With the little dictator in Ottawa resigning and announcing a March departure, who are the contenders to replace him?

Will it be another member of the "Liberal" party, which would insure that policies remain the same but with a new face to sell the old policies to the public. Will elections, especially if only about 60 days away, be a display of outrage from the voters? But with such a short timeline, how much opposition can be mounted against a well known name?

It will be interesting to see what happens up in Canuck-land to our north.

Here is some speculation:

Who May Replace Trudeau as Canada PM?
Ottawa: Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada announced his resignation on Monday, amid mounting pressure from his own political party and also the Opposition. Justin Trudeau resigns, who may replace him as the Canadian Prime Minister? Take a look at the list of potential candidates…

Justin Trudeau Resigns As Canada PM

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has resigned as Liberal Party Leader. Sources informed the Globe and Mail that it remains unclear whether he will step down immediately or remain as prime minister until a new leader is chosen.

Who May Replace Trudeau as Canada PM? List of Potential Candidates

Amid the confirmation regarding Justin Trudeau's resignation and/or who may replace him as Canadian Prime Minister, here is a list of candidates that may take Trudeau's position.

Chrystia Freeland

Former Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, Chrystia Freeland was a key ally of Justin Trudeau but she resigned recently, further escalating Trudeau's tensions and political turmoil in Canada. All eyes are on Chrystia Freeland who is a big figure in Canadian Politics, as a potential candidate for Canadian PM. Indian-origin MP in Canada Chandra Arya had also hailed Chrystia Freeland as Trudeau's successor, in his letter to him.
The MP openly praised the ‘political acumen' of Chrystia Freeland who had resigned from the post of Finance Minister and batted for her to replace Trudeau and lead the nation. He said, “Chrystia Freeland's resignation marked a pivotal shift. While I was disappointed by the timing of her announcement, I must acknowledge her exceptional political acumen. Whether by design or circumstance, she has emerged as a credible and stable alternative to your leadership."

Dominic LeBlanc

A Cabinet Minister of the Liberal Party and someone who is very close to Trudeau, Dominic LeBlanc is a Canadian lawyer and politician who is currently serving as Minister of Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs. Dominic LeBlanc gained prominence after he replaced Chrystia Freeland following her sudden resignation. He is a seasoned politician who has held several cabinet positions in the past decade.

Mark Carney

Another name that is part of the list of potential candidates who may replace Justin Trudeau as the Canadian Prime Minister, is the former Governor of Bank of Canada and Bank of England, Mark Carney. Mark Carney has expressed his desire to enter politics and has been in close contact with MPs of the Liberal Party, seeking their advice to run for the country's leadership.

Pierre Poilievre

A Canadian politician who has been the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the official opposition since 2022 and a member of Parliament since 2004 representing Carleton, is another key candidate to replace Trudeau as Prime Minister. The Conservative leader has often spoken at length, about his vision for Canada and the steps he'd take to implement his thoughts.

Christy Clark

A former British Columbia premier, Christy Clark had shown interest in leading the federal party if Trudeau decides to step down, in October last year. Having served as BC's premier from 2011 to 2017, Clark (58) signaled at a potential return to politics, saying that she is open to being part of the conversation on Canada's future, as per a Canadian news outlet. The 58-year-old politician underlined her dedication to the country, noting that “Canadians are tired of divisive politics and want leaders who offer practical solutions to pressing issues such as the cost of living, housing, healthcare, and climate change.” She has also accused Trudeau of 'creating divisions within the country. in the past.

This guy would get my vote for Prime Minister (or Governor of the 51st state).

But I'd bet Freehand will end up as the Liberal Party leader and she fight for the P.M. spot.

He should no doubt be able to win, he’s away ahead in all the polls. I think he’s alright, but he’s also had many years to bring down the liberals and Trudeau specifically, for many things, and many of them illegal, but he never could and honestly I don’t think he tried to hard. Yes he makes Trudeau look stupid in face to face debates, but honestly anyone can. With someone as awful as Trudeau, anyone looks great. He is a good speaker and sounds intelligent, I hope I’m wrong and he is a great leader, god knows we deserve it, but I’m not going to hold my breath. He definitely is the best option at the moment, but we’re not really picking out of the best of the best.

He talks a good talk but they all do when they're shopping for votes. Let's see what actually happens when/if he gets elected? And all this Trump/51st state bs is just that....bs. talk about an arrogant prick. His first act as president is to attack and cripple a friendly neighbor? Just the thought of having to pack a 6 shooter for protection every time I leave the house makes me sick. And speaking of sick. I often wonder how broke I'd be after my accident if it happened in the states? Sure. You might fix me quicker but I'd leave the hospital with a bill for 250k.

I think you are wrong about our insurance.

If you were employed when you had your accident your insurance would have picked up the cost of the entire "repair" bill for your body, minus the deductible. If you had private healthcare the deductible would likely be in the $2000 to $5000 PER YEAR range, and that is a cumulative amount that starts reducing at each visit to the doctor. Most individuals and literally all employers with more than 25(?) employees have such insurance. So figure, worst case scenario, you would have a $250,000 bill, your insurance would cover $245,000 and you pay $5000.

As for politicians who "talk good talk" to that I am in total agreement with you.

Friendly neighbor? That's a load of BS. It would be stupid for the US to absorb Canada. Most Canadians are worse than Californians. Biggest group of condescending assholes I've ever met.

This is a good long watch just to see the state of Canada from a statistical perspective:

What do you all think the vote would be if Canada had a referendum over the question of joining the United States? In other words, what do most Canadians prefer?

I'm an ex-pat Canadian but if you watch the video above and look at other Canadian members posts there is no way the majority of Canadians would vote to join the US. Their biases and dependency on big government is just too strong. TBH, we really don´t need that many more democrats joining the US. It's not a smart move for the U.S.

You're probably right. Canadians need more time to flail and struggle with socialism a bit longer. They might learn better eventually, and then they would be more willing to join the U.S. later, especially if they're bankrupt.

I think Canada and Mexico did pretty good when the NAFTA agreement was signed and us here in the states were the losers.

I like this guy.

How popular is he in Canada? I see polls saying he is ahead. But what do you Canucks say?
