Went to get new glasses today. Picked out some $89 frames before they dilated my eyes since it's hard to do afterwards.

Got my eye exam and started telling them what I wanted for lenses (no line bifocals, transitions (they get dark in the sun), and whatever the options are to make it where all of the lens has my prescription instead of just the middle.

Well, the frames were $89. The lens... $780.

Insurance paid their part and through some write off or something, they capped my payment at $500.

LOL, same thing happened to me. Went to lens crafters (I think it was) cuz they had a $99.00 special. Walked out just shy of $600.00. WTF happened? :confused2: Still not sure!

got new specs- needed to check my balance to see if i could afford 'em. then my frames broke. they offered to repair them.
they're 45 minutes away. during exceptional traffic. so. someone has not got glasses now.

Same thing here bud. I got my eyes tested about 3 weeks ago and picked out new frames. Got the no-line bifocals and transitions, $500 smakeroos. I was going to get my new prescription put in my old frames and use it as a back-up pair but I may need to get a second mortgage to pay for them.

You know, I got new glasses almost exactly 2 years ago and the price has gone up about $100 in those two years. The government keeps on telling us that the inflation rate and the increase in the cost of living are very low. I don't know where those buggers are living but it sure as hell isn't in part of East Texas.

dr told me readers will be fine and told me what power. Walmart ones are bad so I get the 30$ ones till I smash or loose them every year.

That's what my wife does. She buys 6 pairs at a time and leaves them scattered all over the place.

I just found out that I can't wear my hard contacts any more. My droopy eyelids are putting pressure on the lens and that is distorting my cornea. I have two sets of frames that I can use but I'm not looking forward to the price of the lenses. I'm with Kaiser so we'll see.

wife came home with a 6 pack from Walmart. they don't bend back straight as often as the $20to$30 fostergrant. The worst one was I had a 800lb cow step on one and the lens part was ok but twisted so it got bend back. The foster grant titanium are even tougher.

got my specs repaired. $24. usually $100. none too expensive, @ $24. guy gave me new frames & put my lenses into 'em, as he could not fix that hinge. floored me! we got to shop. @ half-price, too; unbeknownst to me, until we bought stuff.

My bifocals with transitions no-line and photo-gray were like that too... Almost $800.

I have been using contacts, with readers; that is kind of nice after wearing glasses for 35 years.
