What your latest project?

Well, we know Ray has been busy on his house. I painted the kitchen and back entrance last week. Then, just for kicks, went over to the rental house accross the back lane and painted the kitchen there. This morning, I woke up early so I figured no time like the present to give the basement a fresh coat of paint. Not done yet. Just taking a break. Painting stucco sucks!!!! I thought when I started it would go quickly as the first 4 feet of the walls are pine so I only have to paint half and the ceiling. Well, the upper half and ceiling is stucco. It was put up just before we bought this place 3 yrs ago and was never primed or painted. What a pain. Anyways, back to work.

So, what's everyone else been up to in regards to home renovations?

Tearing out our marble master bathroom shower and replacing it with porcelain tile and marble trim/details, plus replacing the shower wall and door, plus repairs to the drywall adjacent to the LEAK that caused all the problems!!!

No, I am not doing the work myself. I wish I could. I can do simple tile and stone work but this project started by jackhammering out the old concrete base and tearing out the walls with a sledge hammer. Putting it all back was a bit beyond may abilities. The tile/stone work is nearly done. Grout should go in tomorrow.

Now if it counts for anything I will be putting in the new glass wall and door. I should be able to manage that by myself.

New bathroom in basement on rainy/snowy days. I have the walls up and lights and outlets wired. Am working on finishing sheet rock which I hate to do. Outside have the posts and frame up for the greenhouse wife wants. Between rain and snow this morning I only have 1 window installed so far. I am building it out of recycled sliding doors and windows. The biggest cost will be clear corrugated panels for the roof.($3 a ft. yikes) I cant use plastic as we get a lot of high wind up here at times.

Have you called any manufacturers for factory seconds? Heading in your direction (but still may be a haul for you) is FlexoSpan in Sandy Lake PA. Not sure if they have the clear ones but that's where everyone I know gets theirs (from the factory's seconds lot).

For projects, I have a couple that I haven't started yet. The house per se is already done so I'm moving to other areas.

Our garage is 2 story with the upper being where the cars go. The lower part was a 22x20' or so room. I split that in half and completed one room years ago. This year, I need to take the other part and make it a storage/mud room.

In one of my detached buildings, I have one more section that needs finished (insulation and OSB). It's about 16x32'. Unfortunately, it's going to take longer to clean the "stuff" out of it then it will to do the insulation/OSB.

Re-did a bunch of plumbing recently, though it wasn't choice that prompted it. Noticed the water heater may be on it's way out, but just watching it a bit in case that water line bursting left the insulation so saturated that it was pretending to leak for while.

Tilled the garden, like to get that in soon.

Cut 15 years of overgrown trees last week from a collapsed barn [to use latter for firewood] and burnt the barns remains, still need to check for obviously nasty nails and till or power-rake that area.

Really should finish cleaning the garage [last fall we just threw too many things in piles and left most of the parts bins unarranged], but still have a few things to do to that tractor residing in there - it might be gone this weekend. Of course, after cleaning it, I should jack it up and put new sills down, but then I'd like new concrete, and would love to give it some insulation and sheetrock or OSB, but where to stop... I still have to finish installing the new electrical panal in there I started last fall too.

Yesterday, was beautiful -not too hot, not too cold, so thought I better drag out a plow to break in that tractor - all the tires were shot, and one bad rim, so I wound up switching to steel all around.

Still have probably 25 gallons of exterior paint in the basement waiting to go on, weather's nice now, but painting season can wait just a little while.

Time to get the mower ready for spring, probaby should be using it this weekend.

Oh, boy why did you get me started, that list isn't even the tip of the iceberg.... and I'm sitting here typing and sipping my coffee instead.

Spiffy, You have to adopt my plan. Do the honey do list first unless it really sucks in which case it gets "lost" after doing 1 to preoccupy her. Then look around and see which one might be fun or at least involve using equipment. If all else fails make a supply run! I just strung out the power cord outside and it started snowing like mad again. Waiting on a tri-axle load of gravel at the moment.

Now I like your plan muleman! Unfortunately, half the things I put on the list myself, so I can't go and accidently loose it [she'd just print a new one anyway!], and most of those tasks are "this will kind of suck now or potentially really suck later."

But many of them involve at least power tools if not seat time!

need to mow the yard for the first time this year, plant clover in a couple bare spots that are prone to erosion, paint trim on house, finish getting material bids on the garage/shop I need to build - soon, punch a couple of holes in the side of the house for exhaust vents, pull a bunch of cedars in the pasture since the ground is starting to dry out enough for me to do that, flatten a spot by the back yard to put up a shed for bicycles, chainsaws, and the mower, flatten a spot for a neighbor and assemble their shed kit, pick up a couple tons of marble seconds (chips, scuffs, etc...) from the cabinet shop down the road to use next to the walkout as patio paving (I know, too slick when wet - but cool looking), build another dog house for the new pup, etc...

First off, I don't have any pics. Then again no one else in this thread does either so I don't feel toooo bad. Although, the wife and I lamented some that we didn't take any before and after. We spent the weekend at the farm. I even had to take Monday off to finsh.

We felt pretty bad that we have neglected the place but circumstances were what they were.

First thing Saturday morning I crawled underneath to the back of the house (yest the access door is up at the front porch) to repair a water leak that occured in the verticle length of pipe to the cold water side of the kitchen sink. PITA!!....lol

We then proceeded to mow the acre +/- around the house, weed eat 400' of fence line and drainage culvert, the barn, house, walks etc. Roundup the gravel parking area.

Pressure washed the entire house and Re-painted the front AND the back porch (w/railing, posts and pickets), the foundation and the chimney.

Shook down the entire house interior.

Cut 3 acres with the bush hog and did the 800' of drive to the top of the hill for good measure.

Finished installing the sub-panel, outlets and switches in the barn work area.

My poor wife got painters elbow. She is such a trooper.

Oh, BTW....86 degrees, no trees, no clouds. But I now have a farmers tan that should last all season (after it changes from lobster pink).

:goodnight

Now that's a productive weekend! :thumb:

Too often we get halfway through a project, and need something from town to finish it; start something different and on and on.... until the day is shot, we have 5 projects half done, and none complete!
