What would you store away in case of a major Earthquake or other disaster ? BY that I mean a emergency care/relief kit ready on a moments notice ? Where would you store it . With everything in Haiti that is happening what you store may save your life .![]()
I just purchased a Sawyer Water purifier that can handle 3000 gallons of water . I got it on sale at Sportsman Warehouse for $60 . Might want to check it out . I incorporated it into my fanny pack water bladder as a fresh water supply system . It seems to work great and is the best avalible that I know of for supplying safe water .My camping kit covers most of it. A propane stove with a couple of tanks.
Pan. Butane lighters. Tent, sleeping bag, etc. Lantern. Candles. I keep
a rotating few gallons of water in the fridge...which would not last long but
it would give me a day or two to get my bearings.
Need to get a portable water filter.
If something hit here...and it could at any time...I would try to help others around me
but my strategy would be to stay away from densely populated areas and set up
a base camp.
You need bigger doors... Here's a couple of mine.No planing can account for your safe house blowing down either.
I like Cabela's. They have the Katadin (sp) filters every now and then at a nice sale price. I check their Bargain Cave and regularly find nice deals.Ok I'll look into it. We don't have that store here but maybe Cabellas has it.
Guns and ammo. What else do I need?![]()
I can dig the rest of the stuff out with my tractor unless a tree falls on it. I can build a small hut in a day from the scrap I have lying around. Got a stream nearby and a brain in my head. We'll be fine.![]()
Not sure about his tractor but I can dig for many days on 5 gallons of fuel. Now a tractor would be handy until one needs more fuel for it, no power no gas pumps.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the things that are "beyond control" are exactly what most are preparing for.but in all honesty, you can plan and prepare but somethings are just beyond control.

Ummm, yep. The place was bomb proof. Waterproof is where they messed up. AFAIK, the place got flooded which is what ruined everything.Homestead AFB had a hanger that was supposed to be bomb proof. The exterior walls where 3' thick poured concrete with doors larger than those. It would hold 6 fighters which they actually had in it. After the storm hanger down, 6 planes completely dismantled and a total lose of the AFB.
