This photo shows very well something that has made me curious. The rear (drive) axle on these cats seems mounted very low. Because that axle is unsuspended (mounted solidly) doesn't that make cause for easy damage and to a lesser extent, a terrible ride quality?

Wouldn't it be better to elevate that axle ~6" and rice the weight of the machine on the suspended axles?

I'd like to know what the hell is in that red bucket just to the right of the shovel... if in fact that is a bucket..
WHAT IS THAT??!!:yum:

cracker -no wonder you are not returning my calls, you're out playing around looking at things you wish you could have and can't afford to buy:))
and besides that, you don't even know what they are, good thing the kind members here on the forum will fill you in on what those things are.
by the way that silver thing leaning on the fish house is a snow shovel - Just one other observation -that truck is going out one side of the picture and coming back in the opposite side - that is one long extennnnnnnnded cab

What this is, boys, is heaven (maybe not in the biblical sense) and there are many people in my neck of the woods that would give up alot for that sweet set up.

I should have known a question like that would get those type of responses from you wrench heads :):) This is at Upper Red lake in Northern Minnesota. This house is owned by Duffy's Fish House Rentals, the rest I'm not sure but aim to find out.

Upper Red Lake was home to the single biggest crappie hatch probably in history a few years back. The lake was fished out by commercial fishing and was closed to walleye fishing for 10 years. During that time a crappie explosion occurred and it produced some of the best crappie fishing, anywhere. The story goes that someone flew over in a plane and saw a crappie school two miles in diameter....I once had a limit of upper red crappies in a bucket (15 at that time) and the bucket weight was 37.5 lbs. One of those monsters now resides on my cabin wall......Walleye fishing is back due to the conservation effort up there and it produces trophy pike regularily......

Back Off Topic, assuming there is any modest snow cover, and assuming that snow to be a cushion then there is no problem with ride quality. Now when you're driving on ice or hardpack then the machines do ride a bit rough, but realize that generally these are not well sprung machines to begin with so most of the suspension is pretty rigid. These don't ride like your fathers Oldsmobile even in the best conditions. Then again, realize they are a fairly slow mode of transport. Top speed for most brands is about 20mph, the Bombardier C18 and similar models could reach 30 in ideal conditions.
