Ok guys, I have a $15 dollar spending limit. Yup you saw it correctly, just $15. Not a penny more. The grand total of gifts that I am allowed to buy cannot exceed $25 and I already spent $10. That leaves $15 for the big gift of this holiday season.

What the heck do I buy for the lovely Mrs_B for that amount?

Winter hair bonnet and a 6 pack... 2 gifts are better than 1!

Actually, not too far off. A scarf or earmuffs can make a big difference with the winds you guys get off the lake.

Make her something and buy a 6 pack to consume while you make it with the $15. I found in the past that people are generally more appreciative for the effort of making something yourself for them than they are for a (cheap) gift.
Though Junks idea sounds good :D

Bob,
I have an idea but it needs a 2nd holiday or event where you can spend a bit more money.
I made Mrs Zoom a bird house but it's not for birds...
The dowel that sticks out the sides spins a spool that's inside the birdhouse.
Under the birdhouse is a slot.
Using small pieces of tape, I tape money (bills) together into a train and put them on the spool.
When Mrs Zoom wants some cash, she just pulls the chain of bills out the front (the house is on felt pads so there's a small gap to allow the bills to slide out the bottom) and tears off what she wants. She then uses the dowel to roll the excess back under.

Mrs. Zoom is sitting next to me.

Her ideas:
Flavored coffee
Chocolate
Matinee tickets (so you can spend a couple hours together). Spend any extra on candy you take in with you.
Book(s)
Gloves
Something related to any crafts/hobbies she has.

Woman....

Money....

Excess....

I don't get it. Is this suposed to be some kind of a joke?

Brian I like the idea but I tend to agree with Dave that "Women . . . Money . . . Excess . . ." must have been written tongue in cheek. But building something is a great idea.

By the way, I spent the other $10 on a book that I know she will love.

Junkman, no more rides to the airport for the lovely Mrs_B, her mom died 51 weeks after the death of her dad. This is her first Christmas without a trip down to see them in New Mexico for at least a decade.

Mith, I love the way you think! I've already got a 6 of 'Sam Adams' in the fridge so all I need now is the inspiration to make her something she will enjoy.

Bob,

Just thought of something else (but I'm not sure if she would be into it).
Contact your US Congressman. His office can arrange to get you an American flag that was flown over the Capitol Building. Comes with a certificate and such. Might be a bit late to get by/for Christmas but you may be able to get one for her Birthday or other event.

BTW - If you ever need flags, that's the best place to get them. Price is about the same as other places but the quality is much better.

I'm sorry guys.....maybe I've just not yet made it to your world. Typically, when I'm given a limit on spending, it represents the minimum I'm allowed to spend. Usually this represents the price of something she has seen and desires. My job then becomes to find out what it is, where it is and get from there to here. It will be neatly wrapped and adorned with bows, ribbon and the like. Of course it far less than anything I would do or get, but this is how she does it.

Be sure it's not a set up BOB......

No, not a set up. We spent a quadrazillion dollars this year on the house, property, furniture, etc. and we basically figured we have everything we could ever use so we decided to share our good fortune with those who have less. We decided to put a self imposed adult spending limit of $25 for gifts for any of the adults in the family (includes brothers/sisters) and we figure we can spend our money helping the church and helping other folks.

So I already bought a $10 book. That leaves me with $15 to spend and now I'm stumped on what to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just an update.

I was in Kohl's yesterday. They had a "Spoon Rest" for $5.99 on sale for $2.99.

So now I have spent $13 and have $12 to go. Fact of the matter is, she will like the spoon rest. And as we are remodeling the kitchen with tile walls, this spoon rest is the prefect color. It will go very well with the accent color on walls.
