Did you ever come to the point to where you said ENOUGH!? Well I did recently. I'm going to try to keep it generic for now, you'll understand.
Where I am from there is a "little band" of people trying to push their agenda on others. But they are starting with a "weak precinct" so to say. Knowing that getting little chunks here and there will eventually meet their agenda. All of this has been underhandedly push onto the majority with a bunch of skewed facts and figures, meetings and surveys few knew about.
My mistake? Voicing my opinion. Recently.
This group is so large they use bullying tactics(my words) to discourage opposing views.
It's amazing what some people will do and say to get their point across.
I suddenly find myself involved more into this cause than I expected and I am willing to fight to retain what I consider a freedom and part of my heritage.
I am having a hard time keeping it civil, given the treatment I have been given, but I can't stoop to their level.
I have many people that are behind me, the "unvocal little guys" being the the ones thanking me the most for making a stand. Still, the personal attacks, name calling, ridiculing, down right horrendous comparisons make it hard to AAAHHHHHH!!! If you know what I mean.
A movement has begun to fight this, as people are realizing the real goal of this special interest group, and I am joining this group, but my involvement grows as I type, on another medium if you know what I mean.
I don't know,,,I just need a place to vent, and hopefully the "other side" doesn't Infiltrate this post and discredit what I have said.

Actually, I know very well what you mean.

A number of years ago the City Manager and Mayor of our little town took off on their own little private agenda. They deliberately lied to and mislead the citizens of the town and nobody seemed to want to stand up against them and ask the questions that needed to be asked. The members of the City Council sat there like dumb asses and said nothing. They were willing to accept the lies just to let things run along quietly. Well, it took 4 years of citizen meetings, planning, organizing, campaigning, handing out leaflets and general shit stirring that caused me, my wife and family a lot of personal animosity but there are some things that you just have to stand up for. Public officials lying to the people that they are supposed to represent is one of them.

As I said, it took 4 years but we got the mayor replaced along with 4 out of 6 members of the City Council and the City Manager was sent packing. Was it worth it? Hell YES!!! It took 4 years out of my life but I shudder to think what would have happened to the town if we hadn't stood up. Public officials should be expected to behave with integrity and if they don't they should be replaced but breaking through the apathy of most of the voters was a long and draining struggle but we did it in the end.

In such a struggle you will lose some "friends" who think that you are just being a trouble maker but you will make others along the way.

If you're right and you feel strongly enough about it then bite the bullet and do it. You'll not be able to live with the fact that you could have made a difference and didn't even try.
 
These sort of officials count on the apathy of the voters to let them run rampant with the taxpayers money. If you don't show up at meetings you will never know what goes on. What gets me is the executive sessions they like to spring on you for financial talks and contracts with teachers and union workers. This should all be out in the open IMHO.
 
I don't plan on stopping on this issue, when I feel I can tell you what it's about you'll understand. Right now they are trying to dig up all they can to discredit me, or make me back off. All they are doing is giving the little guys that have the same opinions as I do more power. This morning the lowballs even posted one of the last pictures I took of my dog Buddy and me before i had to put him to sleep.That was it. I thanked the poster for the kind names and gave a little description, of how Buddy loved working with the handicapped at the mountain. I wanted to tell him where to go, but I just bid him a fine day. I half expect them to find me here and keep up their barrage. We'll see .

Just keep in mind what happened here in Bell Ca. Those that gave themselves excessive salaries are now on trial.

And I make a fool of myself.

Thanks. I think everything is going to be okay. I might not like the outcome, and I can live with that.
I have stood up to the big bad bully. He doesn't like it and he's leaving me alone, for now.
What I did was bring attention to something a lot of people like me thought was no big deal, but it is a big deal. Now the word is getting out and people like me are speaking up.
No big deal.

But I guess I have made my statement.
The A-holes have backed off, hoping if they ignore me I'll go away. That's fine, but I'm not going anywhere. The support I am receiving for standing up is keeping me standing up, and I think I may take a few steps forward.
The radio interview was awesome, as I have never been interviewed before, let alone for a big radio show. My take on it was that I took 5 minutes of airtime away from one of the as-holes messing with me. He has not acknowledged me since! A minor victory, but sweet none the less.
And I am a nobody, just a little guy, if he would have just left me alone.
Time for the duct tape over my mouth.....mmmph...mmmpph:biggrin:

this sounds like a small town political issue we seem to have our problems here too why don't you give me a link I don't hang out on fb but I do have an account to keep up with the kids are up to
