This Oak was about 5'at the base . It's beyond Me why the land owner wanted it down . But, it was somewhat spectacular to see it fall .

I live in a similar "piece of crap" house like that Cowboy, and I treasure the maple tree that is now in full golden colour and adds some shine through my east windows, that is.. when the sun is shining.

Sorry PG , as far as I,m concerned most modern houses I consider to be crap houses these days because of lack of quality of materials & ussualy craftsmanship as well , due to hurry up & gettem built . :hammer:

I used to sub contract to home builders doing backfilling new basements & landscaping & they were allways in a hurry to get them back filled before the concrete was even cured . Half the time half the house was allready up before the concrete was cured as well , asking for nothing but problems IMO .

But in this case I just used the term crappy cuz it Pissed me off them taking down a perfectly good tree

You can look at any new housing addition at least in My area , first thing the developers do is clear the land of all trees , Level the ground of the natural landscape , then fill the property up with matchstick houses as close as they can gettem together plant lil bitty 6 foot trees then sellem to the snooty tooty folks for 5 times what they are worth . Just my opinion though

No problem sweetheart
Yeah, my former SIL had a tri-level built back in the mid 90s.
A year later, they started seeing hairline cracks in the walls.
They were in a big assed rush to get out of the rental they'd been living in, in the city and out to the new place in the country ASAP.

The contractors they hired must have felt rushed as well.
I do clearly remember her moaning about getting in before Christmas, and she was.

I watched that video 3 times and it saddens me. I too would like to know the reason that the landowner wanted it down. A tree like that is hundreds of years old and since it essentially sits on it's own, there has to be a good reason to take it down. About 5 years ago we lost one almost that size in a storm but it had been damaged by some animal digging under it and it started rotting at the base. Perhaps it was unsafe and the owner didn't want it falling on the house. I hope so 'coz if it was healthy, I'd be kinda pissed.
