I went in the basement under the garage. Whiff, whiff? Uh oh, it's that dead mouse smell again (I had that a couple years back).
Last time, it wasn't a dead mouse and my sewer pump quit.
Figuring it's related to the sewer pump again, I start the diagnosing. Power to the sewer pit is on so I know it's something in the pit itself.
Get the tractor out and lift the lid (it's a couple hundred pounds of concrete).
Sure enough, the water level is way too high.
I look at the electric box where the pump plugs in and it looks terrible. I wiggle the plug to the pump and sure enough, it kicks on but only if I hold the cord just right.
I let the pump run for a bit to get the level down.
Well, I had to replace the box, receptacle... The old one was so rusted it was a real bitch to get out.
I don't mind doing electric but it's not enjoyable when my head is in the sewer pit so I can see what I'm doing...
