Weather is interfering with planting today.

Gone But Not Forgotten
Got a small section of the garden tilled with the walk behind tiller the past 2 days. Decided to set out some midsized Tomatoes under the small hoops. We got 18 planted and got rained on for a bit. Then the sun came out and I thought this is good we can plant some of the big one as well. Looked at the radar as the chirp was going off and it looks like we got a strong front pushing through in about 20 minutes or less. Calling for hard rain and hail so it is back to waiting again.:hammer:

Last year at this time I had corn 12" out of the ground. I was able to plant 6, 100 foot rows last Friday. Should have done the peas first before I got rained out. Hopefully in a couple of days I can get some peas and beans in.

I am not even planting early peas this year. Will try late summer for fall harvest. I have only seen a few fields where corn is planted. Mine is still too wet for the big tiller on the tractor.

Been pouring rain for the last 1/2 hour to where it is running down the lane again. So much for planting today.

I have never had any luck with peas in the fall. Just to hot to get them started.

Old fashioned style field peas work around here. Others not so much. Muley, as soon as I can get my memory and my money working at the same time I will send you these seeds.

I believe that I will wait until Friday to decide if I am going to plant at all this year. If the water comes up as much as they are predicting there will be no season for me as I will more than likely be flooded out. After Friday I will know what will be dry and what will be under water.

Good luck with what's coming your way!
We had nasty storms here today around 6-7:30
Storm sirens went off shortly after I was at the library posting on here:yum:
I'll blame that on Bobcat.
My God, you should have been there Bill while he was telling me how this part of Ohio is like a magnet for ternaders and the like.
I kicked him under the table (well, actually it was my feeble attempt at footsie) but he carried on and ignored it and made me laugh in the process.
I'll get even with him. :shifty::yum:

Good luck with getting the other 'maters in anytime soon.. LOL

Darn guys!!! You know that you can get so wrapped up in your own little world that you don't realize how bad some others are having it.

This has been a weird weather year in East Texas but it doesn't sound nearly as bad as some of you guys, and other parts of the country, are experiencing.

I was down in the garden on Saturday and some of it is doing good and some it not so good but I came back up with out first 3 peppers and 1 eggplant. I didn't realize that some of you don't even have "stuff' in the ground yet.

We are getting hammered right now. The thunder scared the dogs and brought me right out of bed and it is hammering rain outside. They have flood warnings running again and there is a wide band moving through right now. Gonna be days till we get back in the garden at all. This is getting worse than frustrating!

Yes, like ETF, I too never really understood just how hard this weather fluctuation has been for you guys. I tremendously admire your fortitude and patience, all of you harvesters, for what you so good naturedly put up with.

Please post some pics of your Tomato plants; pwetty please? I'd love to see them, since you've convinced me to start some myself.

Are you talking Runner Beans here murph? I simply adore Runner Beans, Sprouts too...

Weather just isn't improving either, NW MN & ND are now under frost warnings for the next two nights. That will probably get the fruit trees, they are in full bloom right now. We were hoping for a good crop of plums & chokecherries, the wine cellar is getting a little low. I was hoping to get more in the garden today too, but after the 2.5 plus inches of rain last weekend it still is a mud hole.

Reddog that sure is one big water balloon waiting to burst over your way, if it does :shitHitFan:it will get us up in the northern valley too. By the time they get all the politics out of the way mother nature will probably take her course anyhow.

Michelle

Just plain old green beans I guess? My wife buys them, I put them in the corn planter and plant them.

Today I was in Iowa on a job site. The sun was shining and 80 degrees. I had to go into city hall and fill out some permit paperwork. Twenty minutes later I came back out and big black cloud has just gone over. In the time I was in city hall our project manager figured we had an inch of rain. We had to shut down all work.
