Just for everyone's information, It appears that we will be at record low inventories of these grains at the end of the summer, going into harvest. Last Fridays USDA report has 2012 planted acerage of corn at record levels but came up short on soybean acers. Old crop stocks of corn are at record low levels for March, as are soybeans....The market reacted wtih vigor, and prices Friday were much higher.

If we stay dry in the west and have a reduced crop, and the Eastern corn belt has issues as well, grain prices will move substatially higher. Fair warning. Watch what the weather does this summer, as it may have quite an impact on food prices.....up or down...

Regards, Kirk

Sure is not helping cattle and chicken feed prices come down any this year. I paid more for feeders than I ever have and feed prices will drive the finish price I charge up by at least 30-35 cents per lb. Most folks don't realize how big of a role corn and beans play in many other food prices. While bio from beans helps out on the diesel and home heating prices the increased demand drives all prices up. The lack of winter snow to melt could easily lead to drought problems in vast areas of production acres.

Calves are cheap but beef is high at the market. Who's getting these windfall profits? Perhaps a Congressional investigation is in order. Get Mr. Green jeans up there and grill him good. And then let an expert like Whoopie Goldberg testify an clinch the deal.

Perhaps Barry should bring this to the attention of his rat pack media.:whistling:

Truth is,,,,,,
The early spring has given the farmers an edge for planting. Many could not get in their fields last year hence, in part, the lower harvest. But we also had a severe drought through much of the mid west. This forced cattlemen to cut herds so this year the beef and poultry will be scarce but feed stocks should rise.

Farmers are like the Oil industry. Huge investments in realestate and equipment, high risks andlow margins. When they do well everyone thinks it's an unfair windfall. "Why do they get all these subsidies?" When they do poorly no one cares.

But the farmers. Who try again next year.

I have no idea how he did it but we all know whom to blame,,,, again.

Poor GWB. The smartest and cleverist "dumb guy" ever to sit in the White House.
