WASH. STATE: anti-gun bill authorizes annual WARRENTLESS searches of your home!

Wow. Talk about over reach. These people don't even think when they draft this crap. Giving the sheriff carte blanche to just enter and search a persons house without a warrant. All to insure that people are storing their firearms the way the government wants. Disgusting.

Just a small portion of the story ...
. . . Responding to the Newtown school massacre, the bill would ban the sale of semi-automatic weapons that use detachable ammunition magazines. Clips that contain more than 10 rounds would be illegal.

But then, with respect to the thousands of weapons like that already owned by Washington residents, the bill says this:

“In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing shall ... safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of the county may, no more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with this subsection.”

In other words, come into homes without a warrant to poke around. Failure to comply could get you up to a year in jail.

“I’m a liberal Democrat — I’ve voted for only one Republican in my life,” Palmer told me. “But now I understand why my right-wing opponents worry about having to fight a government takeover.”

He added: “It’s exactly this sort of thing that drives people into the arms of the NRA.” . . .

This stuff will grow and grow and eventually there will be a Waco incident. Then another, and then another. Each time the government will make the inhabitants appear to be nut jobs and that their (the governments) actions were correct in removing the threat. Then more laws will be passed in an effort to protect the public from more of these crazies. Repeat as necessary...

The line is quickly being drawn.

This reminds me of surprise ispections from the Fire department at my place of business. They come at an unscheduled time and then find several violtions. Later they revist to see if we have made corrections. Okay fine.

But then I get a visit from the building dept for the modifications I may have made without permits.

Fines and court actions, all without warrants or cause. I get it because is a business. But now it would seem, the can do it in our homes.

Remember, even if you have your guns properly secured, while in the house they can spot anything that might justify a warrant. Such is legal when the officer sees something while performing his legal duty.

Then they get a judge to sign warrant to search and seize.

Keep in mind the officer could pull this excuse, to check your guns, anytime he wished to enter you house. An obvious violation of the intent of the fourth amendment

No warrant, no enter. Period. I have run off Pa. state troopers and local police. They could read my phone number on the large sign forbidding their entry and call. Which they usually did. The only one who ever entered my house was the local chief and we chatted and then I went and packed a bag and rode out with him.Never had a warrant issued against me and never been fingerprinted. They knew I was not going anywhere and never asked to see my weapon.

This is getting more and more like the UK.

They have no 4th Ammendment and there, if you are a registered gun owner, the police have automatic right of entry to your home at any time of the night or day. If your firearm is not in its approved gun safe they will confiscate it and you will likely never see it again.

And that is why we ran their asses off 236 years ago.:hammer:

They've removed the sentence about inspections from the proposed legislation.

Removal of a single sentence in Senate Bill 5737 — Washington’s proposed assault weapons ban (AWB) — only after Seattle Times columnist Danny Westneat made a stink about it does not erase the anti-civil rights intent of the legislation or its authors.

You know, they may have been better leaving it in because that Bill , as first proposed, had NO chance of making it through the courts.

Hey wait it didn't say the sheriff had the right to leave the house after entering.
I know I know "Nut Job" heres your sign.

Just goes to show how ignorant people are to allow politicians give up their rights! The people should be up in arms but you hardly hear the chatter ............... sad it is.
