D.C. Lawmakers Propose Requiring Students To Apply To College | Fox News

Apparently the chuckleheads in DC have got it in their heads that they should have laws requiring their students to take the SAT/ACT (paying the fees for those tests, mind you) and apply for a college/trade school. This would also establish a mandatory workshop teaching the DC school system to teach teenagers how to apply for aid and admission.

Before jumping on any bandwagons:
1. The requirement is to APPLY, not attend. No one would be forced to attend any college.
2. This is only meant to apply to the local DC school system. It is NOT a nationwide initiative.
Can someone explain the benefit of this to me, please?

I wonder if schools, including the colleges get $ in some government funding method for the number that apply for college.

Many colleges require a payment befiore they accept an application. Who pays for that?

I would suggest that not everyone should go to collage. It does not gaurrentee a higher income or even employability. A silly and reckless misrepresentaion of reality.

A long term focused college education, without practical experience or a record of performance, only qualifies someone to be elected Presidentof the USA.:whistling:

BTW, this is from a school district with a 43% graduation rate. Their system is on life support now and they are hitching the horse to the wrong end of the gurney.

Wrong district for sure, but why does Maxine Waters face always come to mind when I read stuff like this? I can even hear the words.

They will hire more staff to handle it. You know get into and they realize they need more people to staff it. Union wins again
