Gone But Not Forgotten
Should have watered this morning. We are at 91 and muggy. Slight chance of a pop up storm but most seem to be tracking above us AGAIN! My clover field we planted in March was coming on good till about 2 weeks ago. Checked it this morning and it is starting to show real stress from the heat and lack of rain. Creeks are almost non existent and a few Amish that rely on springs are out of water and hauling it in.
 
We are looking at some possible storms rolling through this weekend into early next week. I've really got my fingers crossed here as we are really in need. Had a couple stray very light/short showers here and there, but nothing that has really done anything.
 
What little rain we have had does not even wet the dust on the roads much. Wish they would spread more brine but it is another regulated BS the state boys control. They have already exceeded our allotment for the road miles we have. The town boys would put it on if they could.

Pasture is almost as brown as where I sprayed Roundup around it this spring. I have been feeding hay and normally would have brush hogged it by now. It is hardly worth the fuel to mow it right now. The green is the alfalfa trying to come back but it should be 8 inches tall by now.

Day 9 here without measurable rain at my watherstation. Temps into the 90's through the weekend with high dewpoints. Hottest part of the summer is upon us.
 
There is enough moisture in the air and it is up to 90 again today. They keep predicting showers but we sure have not gotten any right here. I was down in Pa yesterday about 10 miles away and things were nice and green compared to here. When I went down the hollow this morning the corn in the fields is looking real poor in spots. You can sure tell where the moisture is in the soil and where it is totally missing. Corn along the creek beds is 5 ft. tall and others is barely 2-3 ft. Not looking good for anyone keeping cows over winter. Second cutting may not happen at this rate.
 
Hot, hot, hot! My new coil came in for the lawnmower so I had to put it in. Only took half and hour and that included sipping on a nice cold A&W Root Beer while watching the gas drain from the tank. :biggrin: That was long enough and hot enough for me today.
 
I cut back some sumac with the chain saw a while ago and it kicked my butt in this muggy weather. Not going back outside till I feed the cows. Rain south of us and north of us and not a drop around here.:hammer:

Draining the gas to put in a new coil? Ummm, you know one is part of the fuel system and the other is electric... :whistling: While waiting, did you also swap out the winter air in the tires and put in summer air? :yum:

We got a slight sprinkle yesterday. Other then that, nothing in the last 10 days or so. Temp is now in the 70's which feels nice.

Muley - Looking at the radar right now, I see a bunch of small but intense blips in your area. Any of them getting you?

Oh your a funny guy. :yum: Have to remove the gas tank to remove the engine cover to get to the flywheel and coil. Didn't you ever work on a lawnboy 2 stroker? If you've ever owned one you better, you'd may as well have a small engine mechanic on the payroll if you don't. :yum:

Actually I run a 78% nitrogen mixture in my tires. I've found it works the best. Hmmmmmmm. :whistling:
