Really nice one at sno trans right now.
get out your wallet! call the bank, break open the piggy bank
I paid $6500 for a 1985 1742 series wide track long track with an 8 way blade and a v6 cummins turbo diesel and a 545 allison 5speed overdrive trans, no cab though only a two seater, so just an fyi there out there you just got to search longer and the more you search the more you learn, might want to check out some of the sites and read the documents on what to look for when considering a purchase, the belting on the tracks depending on length can cost $150.00 each, boggies are $350 ea no shipping, about the same for drive sprockets and for the most part the tracks and drive-train are the most expensive parts on the machine, the grousers are not cheap $40-60 each not real positive on those prices, also take a good look and the carriers, mine had a single stage carrier and the roll pin broke last year and well you know the story $1000.00 later and I was rolling again, did all the work myself so did not have to pay labor etc.. there are a couple different carriers out there and a plus if someone has installed lockers ect.. but these can be hard on the drive train as well as they where not designed for that much load, sooo you half to weigh the facts and prices and make a decision, do you get one cheap and fix it yourself, put some money time and effort into it? or do you spend allot more but get a machine that has been all updated and restored and is a turn key deal? there is the $20,000 dollar question?
After I re worked my machine and have used it for the past 8 years I wouldn't ask anything less than about $15,000 for it, when I was shopping for one and I looked for three years and not just a tucker in fact I did not want an ugly tucker, but most of them without a blade, same year and vintage without a blade where going from $30,000 and up! so when I found mine in medford Or at $7500.00 I thought it was a mis print! but called and offered $6500 and trailered it home on thanks giving weekend! and what a trip that was!
Any how keep looking and learning, take your time, do the research, talk and discuss, and when the right one comes along you will know it!
If I only had a cab on mine I would offer it to you as I am not using it much anymore and it has just cost me money the last couple of years!
where you at and where are you going to use this machine and what for? and I think I warned you about Sno-Trans all ready in Wieser Idaho, I could go down and check on it for you if your to far away, I am located in Clarkston WA on Idaho border Lewiston Idaho, let me know or pm me I know Mary, not really good but i have been there before, I would want a little gas money though, just trying to help you, dont want to see you get a bad deal and there are some out there so beware and do your homework! like my dad always said dont go buy the first one you look at! anyway sorry im carring on! been on this dam forum way tooo long, my eyes are bleeding
ok well good luck and contact me if you have any questions or I can be of any help, I have a set of 6 boggie carries (bare shell) and 1 frnt 5/8 steering plate and 2 rear 5/8 thick steel (not aluminum) steering plates, some belting and many other parts for 1700 series and some 1600 series, so keep me in mind if you find a fixer upper I have had these parts for years and would let them go cheap, also a dual ram 1600 series steering pengalum (rare) most where single ram but my 1700 use twin rams so I got it thinking it fit my machine, turns out it does not! after dragging it on a sled to the machine by hand and finding out it was to narrow for the frame, lol, welded the old one and so far so good, one other thing I have a buddy in orfino that has access to a nice trailer dually, just hauled his thiokol back from cali, can see how much he would charge to hual for you! be allot cheaper than hiring a big rig etc..
