I doubt members have for sale but this is as good of place as any.

Anyone see anything wrong with these?
5400# would be the max load I would be binding.

I use that style all the time.........I keep them out of the weather in a chain box on the trailer. I don't have any extra's tho..............

OK, I'll open the can of worms. I think I'd be a little more comfortable with US made chains and binders. The ad didn't show where these were made. I buy my stuff from AW Direct and have no second thoughts about the quality.

I have the ratcheting binders myself, after whacking the fecal matter out of myself with the boomers, I much prefer the ratchets. Just be sure when you start binding down, that the chains aren't twisted, and it's always a good idea to leave some thread showing when you first crank things down. That way you've got a little extra travel left so you can crank on it a bit if you need to.:tiphat::beer:

I knew someone would...

Actually, I found a deal where I'll get some of both styles. The swivel/lever style are American and the ratched are China.

The way I bind things down (way overkill) I really don't need them but need them to bee seen for DOT code.
For as infrequently as I use them (probably once/year), I really don't need super good ones.

But, after Dargo's experience last year  , I immediately went out and bought a bunch of grade 70 chains to replace my logging chains. :thumb:

bczoom , I use both ratchet and boomer style . I don`t have a problem with either. I think the quality of the binders are as important as your chain.
I agree with johnday , AW Direct.com are good , trustworthy and loyal company to deal with. I`m in the wrecker busseness and good equipment is important. :17875:

I believe that I read someplace that the lever style are no longer DOT approved.

I use both styles also. I use the boomer on the front of the machine & the ratchet on the back. I bought mine at a place called east shore wire & rope rigging supply, inc. & they are made in the usa! I personally like the boomer style better because it is faster & feels more solid.

Has anyone else heard this or know anything about it?

NO, but I have driven thru Dot inspections this summer with the in use on my trailer & they didnt stop me but then again it might have been their oversight?

Check out Harbor Freight they have them on sale $16.99, have had go luck with them on farm equiment that I haul & saves the teeth and don't end up with a pipe slips and hit you I the head :pat:
