I would have told the mutherphuker off. It would have been a fifteen minute rant.

It pizzes me off. I have yelled at doctors that can't keep appointments, and then switch doctors until I find one that can be prompt.
How much you wanna bet he was late because he was stuck at the dealer an extra 45 minutes because he brought his Porsche RS in for something?

Unless we are the first appointment of the day, our primary care doc is always late; the later in the day, the later he is
getting into the room. We put up with this because he spends as much time with each patient as needed, and that
usually runs over the 30 minute "standard appointment" time.
Dragonfly Lady and I take our appointments together, which is a one hour block of time and we normally spend most,
if not all, of that time with him; sometimes, it takes more time than that. This is why we put up with being kept waiting;
a doc that spends as much time with each patient as that patient needs if worth waiting for.
We are not looking forward to the day he decides to retire.

We did alright this morning. Brought our daughter in for a 9:15am peadiatric specialist appointment. We were out of there at 10:05am back in the vehicle on the way home. Since we saw the specialist doc two months ago, we were booked in for an EEG and an MRI. Both were done right away with no problems.

Gone But Not Forgotten
I went to the Dr today myself for a follow up appointment. I started going to this practice, 20 miles away, years ago because my SIL worked there for one of the MD's. She moved out of state but I stayed with him because of the level of care I got. He was prompt every time. He eventually went on to a private practice of his own but it was too far for me to drive, about 30 miles. They assigned my case to a new Dr. After seeing her once, the next time I made an appointment she was out on a family emergency. It seems there was a male attorney with the same last name from the same area arrested on drug trafficking charges. Hmm maybe that was her family emergency.
They scheduled me with a PA working under another Dr. She was very thorough but then the Dr. came in and repeated everything she had just gone over. So that appointment went to about an hour for a 15 minute appointment. Then I was assigned another Dr., one of the owners. He was real prompt for the one appointment I saw him. Next visit was cancelled because he went in for a heart bypass. Then I got assigned to a new Dr. that I saw today. Appointment time was 8:00. Arrived at 7:50, saw the assistant at 7:55 and the Dr at 8:00. Since he was new he went over a lot of my history to try to get a clear picture of my health. Left there at 8:30.
So in the last 2 years I've seen 4 Dr's. and a PA. They are a good ways away from me but so far they try to make things as easy as they can on the patients. I try to schedule appointments 3-4 months ahead so I can get an early time slot as it's a fasting appointment. If I can't get an 8:00, 8:15 or 8:30 appointment I go for another day, they get more behind as the day goes on.

Gone But Not Forgotten
I had an 8:15 yesterday with the new lady doc. She was in the room by 8:21 and had taken the time to review all my tests and have copies for me to take along. The cancer doc runs late at times but I have seen him take 10-15 minutes with a patient on the chemo beds and not leave till he was done with them. Can't complain about time when they are trying their best to give folks what time they have left.

I actually did better (with one doctor) having an appointment late in the afternoon because: 1) She was actually in the office 2) She wanted to go home early.

That's about as wierd as my PCP. She has her long, blonde hair tied back, wears no make-up and wears a T-shirt and bib overalls under an open white coat. She usually has Keds or tennis shoes on as well. You don't go to see her unless you're ready for some verbal abuse. If you're not doing exactly as she told you, you will hear all about it. She's just a good ol' country gal who happens to be a doctor. I luv her.
I have seen her at formal events and she does clean up well.
