Vickers hydraulic pump (Tucker 1542)

My 1542 is equipped with a vickers hydraulic pump for the steering and the remote functions. It has two outlet ports, one that runs to the steering and one that runs to the remote functions. Can I remove the remote function line and plug it without damaging the pump?

No.

I'm 99.99% sure you can't plug that port. You'll have to return that fluid back to the reservoir.

it will over heat the fluid in the loop you create. I just talked Kenncrew through this

The pump is a single pump but has a 5 gal per minute priority for the steering.

Pull the aux valve and lines to the rear. ( bring them to the midwest where it is very common to reinstall these parts) but leave the feed line and return the valve position, this will create enough flow to drop the temp of the fluid by getting it away from the pump for a period of time.

On the 68 we sent it right back to the tank no issues after removing the remote.

Researched blocking the ports and never got a solid answer. No heat issues.
