US Navy captures pirates in the Gulf of Aden off coast of Yemen

There are still real pirates plying the international waters hijacking ships on the high seas.

Yemeni pirates, apparently tied to Iranian backed Houthi terrorists, tried to hijack a second ship this week. Both ships are tied to an Israeli owner, so therefore targets of Iranian and Iranian surrogates.

Glad to see a US Naval Destroyer class ship was able to capture the pirates and now is holding them.

U.S. Navy Captures Terrorists Who Tried To Hijack Tanker Tied To Israel | The Daily Wire

Ryan SaavedraNov 26, 2023
A U.S. Destroyer took five individuals into custody on Sunday after they attempted a terrorist hijacking of an Israeli owned tanker in the Gulf of Aden.
The Liberian-flagged Central Park chemical tanker — which is managed by Zodiac Maritime, a U.K. based firm that is part of Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac Group — was believed to have been seized earlier in the day.
“US Navy personnel from the USS Mason responded to a distress call from the crew onboard an Israeli linked tanker,” said Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin. “5 armed gunmen tried to hijack the ship in Gulf of Aden. US Navy pursued toward Yemen. Warning shots fired. Gunmen now being interrogated.”
The incident marked the second time over the last few days that terrorists have tried to hijack the ship after Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists previously tried.
“The 5 gunmen boarded from a skiff by pulling up alongside the tanker which I am told ‘has a low free board’,” Griffin said. “The crew had locked themselves in the Citadel (safe room). A Japanese destroyer assisted the USS Mason with the interdiction. 2 Chinese Navy warships in the area did not render assistance.”. . .

And now the story gets a bit deeper as the US Destroyer Mason was apparently fired upon by Houthi cruise missiles, at least 2 of them, and the missiles did not hit target but it is unknown if they were intercepted or if they just failed.

Iranian-Backed Terrorists Fire Ballistic Missiles At U.S. Destroyer

Ryan SaavedraNov 26, 2023
Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen fired two ballistic missiles at a U.S. destroyer in the Gulf of Aden just after midnight on Monday after the vessel thwarted an attempt by terrorists to seize a tanker connected to an Israeli businessman. . .
However, the USS Mason and associated aircraft received a distress call from the vessel that the crew was under attack. Upon arrival, the destroyer demanded that the crew be released and the five terrorists who boarded the ship got back on their small boat and attempted to outrun U.S. forces but quickly failed.
“At approximately 0141 on Nov. 27 Sanaa time, two ballistic missiles were fired from Houthi controlled areas in Yemen toward the general location of the USS MASON (DDG 87) and M/V CENTRAL PARK,” U.S. Central Command said in a statement. “The USS MASON (DDG87), which is part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, was concluding its response to the M/V CENTRAL PARK distress call at the time of the missile launches. There was no damage or reported injuries from either vessel during this incident.”
The missiles did not reach the destroyer; it is not clear if they were shot down.
“Maritime domain security is essential to regional stability,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, USCENTCOM commander. “We will continue to work with allies and partners to ensure the safety and security of international shipping lanes.”
U.S. forces in the region have been attacked at least 66 times by various Iranian-backed terrorists since October 17. . .
