US Air Jet Crashes in NYC

Av8r3400

Gone Flyin'
Airbus A320 has crashed into the Hudson River after taking off from Laguardia airport after (news speculation) ingesting birds into possibly both of it's two engines.

Miraculously all passengers and crew have survived and been recovered.

Story

Just been following this on the evening news here in the UK....All safe thank God.

The Pilot well what can you say....luck maybe but still some amazing skills there to keep that thing in one piece landing on water.

And a big thumbs up to all that assisted in getting everyone on dry land safe.

Wow - I've always joked about how useless all those water landing instructions they forced you to listen to were. This must be one of the only cases of a successful water landing. Good work Captain Whoever! :thumb:

Unconfirmed reports on the TV news state that the pilot actually walked the length of the cabin, TWICE, confirming his aircraft was empty prior to evacuating himself.

For landing the AC safely and getting all of his charges off, alive, this professional pilot is a hero by every definition.

They just cited the statistics on bird strikes, crashes and deaths. I had no idea how serious this can be.

Madison has an airport, albeit, nowhere near the size of the bigger cities. We are also on a flyway for migrating birds.

I am not aware of air-cannons or other noise making devices to scare birds off the landing strips.

Perhaps this incident will bring some changes.

Now, THAT is a man!!!!

Now, THAT is a man!!!!
For sure!:applause:
We watched the whole thing unfold from the television in the main lounge at work today, then while I was going around on my first med pass, I checked out the updates on the rezzie's televisions.
Thank God it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

I understand they are lifting the plane onto a barge today....anyone know of a link for live footage??

On the news late last night, they indicated that the plane drifted 4 miles down river, while the rescue was going on... Amazing everything went so smoothly.

Now that's a good pilot.
I wonder what color the co-pilot was? (from the scare, not racial)

Well, it was due to happen.

Someone made a computer game out of it. You try to land the plane yourself.

Not hard if all you need to do is hit the left and right arrows on your keyboard.

Play HERE

I got it on the 2nd try (which is one more try than the real crew got).

I thought a diversion from all the 'racism' bullcrap being invented in other threads would be a good thing.

A true hero, in every sense. No panic, no emotion, just professionalism.

The last statement "We're gonna be in the Hudson" is blotted out by the speed and stall warning horns going off as they were about to set down on the water.
