Ultimate Irony: Gerber/Bear Grylls Machete RECALLED for laceration hazard

When will companies learn that JUNK imported from China does not meet the standards of U.S. products? Quality control is not part of their process over there except for companies that actually manufacture to the same standards as their American divisions.

And I think that is the key Muley. A couple of years back I was at a woodworking expo and I was talking to the international buyer for an American manufacturer of woodworking tools and machinery. They still manufactured a lot of their products in the US but I told him I was disappointed to hear that they had begun to have some of their stuff made in China and didn't he worry about their reputation suffering as a consequence. His answer was "No". They had their own QC people at the factory during manufacture and the Chinese could make anything to any standard that was specified. If you pay for junk, you get junk. If you wanted the best they could supply it, it just cost more but still a lot less less than an equivalent product made in the US. That was his take on the subject and I got the impression that they would be shifting more of their business over there in the future.
