UL Warns of Counterfeit Candle Warmers

We don't really have a "Home Living" forum at FF, so I hope this is the best place to post this notice...........


Underwriters Laboratories Inc. is notifying consumers that two types of candle warmers identified in the link below have not been evaluated for safety by UL, and bear counterfeit UL Marks for the United States.

Why would one use a candle warmer? Surely, by having a flame, a candle is warm enough, so warm infact, that it melts?!
 
Almost all college and university dorms have banned candles due to the fire hazard. At the college my daughter attends a candle is permitted if the wick is cut and a candle warmer is used. It warms the candle so the scent is emitted for enjoyment without the flame and accompanying fire hazard.
