Turkey dance this morning.

Gone But Not Forgotten
Since the weather got real bad around Christmas I have been keeping ear corn in the feeder and on the ground. This morning this flock of 26 was out there and breeding season is getting underway. The boys are strutting and picking their harems and it sure is fun to watch. Days like this make the work worth it.

Lots of fly tying material there on the big boys. I still have a ton of tail flats and barred wing feathers from a road kill over 10 years ago. I paired them all so I could make nice wet flies. I'm sure you get a few feathers on the ground when they get feisty with each other.

I amsure those boys are fluffed for the cold weather but the corn seems to have improved their "conformation."

April is just around the corner.:gun2_smi:

They are busy chasing the girls down and breeding them. They should be setting on eggs soon. I am glad this bunch is staying up here this winter and roosting on the back side in the pines and hemlocks. I need to start discouraging the foxes as they get a lot of hens on nests as well as young poults.
