Tucker window inserts

I’m in the middle of replacing the glass in the cab of my 76’ 1542. I’m stuck on trying to find a slider insert for the doors. The opening is 32” wide and 16” tall. Iv searched through every rv/camper company and even aftermarket companies and haven’t found anything. My frames and front half of the windows are fine but the sliders have been replaced with plexi glass that are both in bad shape. I had a glass company come out and was told they could cut a piece but couldn’t put holes in it for any type of latch. So I’m at a loss on where I could get something from to remedy my situation. any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

If someone can cut a piece to fit, don't worry about the latch. Mine was switched to plexi at some point before me as well. The cab is tight and I'm sure someone put their elbow thru it a couple times, at which time the guy fixing it said "screw glass". The seals (at least in mine) are pretty tight, so they don't slide open on their own, but can easily be slid open using my hand.

Ok cool I may give that a shot. My track lining is nonexistent on mine as well so I’ll try to find someone to cut the window and get a new seal.

That window track lining is "challenging" to find. If you strike out, let me know.

It's been a few years but I bought some and it's highly likely I have enough that I can sell you some at a reasonable price.

That’d be great! Thanks when I measured it I found it to be 1/2” by 1/2” and was available. We’ll see if I’m correct shortly. Surprisingly pricey I might add.

I used the ones you see in the picture from CR Lawrence. They are a lot more expensive now but so is everything else. Mine are tinted I would have liked to have gotten clear ones but these actually aren’t bad. They fit the door size perfectly

I’ll reach out to them and see if they have them. Any chance you know the size you bought or the part number from them?

pretty sure it was VW8406 I could measure mine in the next couple days to make sure. I had to make my door frames and skins so I cut the hole for the window accordingly but if memory serves me correct thet were just a little bigger than the factory sliders. looking on line it apears they are about 450 ea now. someone else must make a compatible non - contoured horizontal sliding window

I heard back from them, they don’t have anything in the size I need and they also said they no longer make custom sizes windows either so that’s great news haha

I am going to have to be very careful not to break any of mine then
You can buy hurricane window film that you can install over your glass. It is a thin plastic window film, used to prevent glass from shattering and becoming hazardous in hurricanes.

There are also security films you can install over glass, basically the same thing. They add a high margin of safety to the glass should it break (it doesn't stop it from breaking but it stops it from shattering dangerous shards and holds the whole panel in place even if it breaks in an impact).

Some versions of these films add a small level of impact protection. I have installed this film on many windows, mainly for security use. It makes life very difficult for anyone who is trying to get through a window.

Sorry for the delayed response.

I forgot to check when I was at Scott's shop, but I'm 99% sure I still have the stuff. It is CR Lawrence 1/2" x 3/8" glass run channel like this. It was/is expensive. I'll sell you what you need for $2.00/foot, in one foot increments, plus actual shipping cost.

I was able to get 12’ local for pretty cheap but I greatly appreciate the offer. I put the lining in and figured out that my 1/4” wide sliders would no longer fit so I ended up making the sliding section of the window with a thinner piece.
