Tucker Question???

Does it matter what type of hydrolic fluid to put in the hydrolics. My 85 tuck says only us ATF type A ONLY. I am taking the lines and tank out because the fitting for the filter is leaking at the weld and I would like to buy 5 gallons of hydrolic fluid not 1 quart at a time @ $5.00 a qrt.
Any info would be great.
Thank you

Yes I think so...

From the experiance we have had on the farm with ATF in hydrolic systems. Back 30 years ago some harvest equiptment used ATF, and we were very successful in just going to J20C, a JD hydrolic oil. It's the stuff we now use in the rear end of a 252Ski Dozer as well. It is an all purpose hydrolic, gear and brake fluid for tractors.

And of course your right it can be bought in 2.5 gal and 5 gallon pails or by the barrel as well. Much less money than ATF.

Regards, Kirk

atf could have to do with seals or just that it's flows better in the winter i would suggest to call tucker and find out aint any reason to put that stinky stuff back in if you don't have to

Thanks, yeah I will call Tucker and see what they say! I made a huge mess taking the lines off. Good thing I had just pressure washed the undercarage

Tucker said to run the ATF but it does not need to be the A. They said to use ATF because it is not a piston pump its a vein pump. Atleast I can find tranny fluid but the A was real hard to find.
