Tucker 542 w/trailer on Craigslist

I ran across a Craigslist ad in Reno Nevada for a 1977 542 with a great trailer from Tucker. I thought about buying the trailer but the recent purchases of two 443’s have put a dent in my play money. I told the owners that I would pass on the info to this forum and hopefully someone will like what they see. The following is the description that they emailed me.

“It has low hours & miles. We purchased it 2 years ago & we've only used it twice for about an hour. It runs like a dream. The previous owner up in Nyack, CA used it on occasion to check his water tanks, and to take folks to & from their cabins. He had the engine over-hauled just before we bought it. We have a small assortment of spare parts for tracks, etc. The tracks are in great shape. The Dodge 318 V-8 engine has the block warmer. It has seen its share of action but has been well maintained. We have the original manual from Tucker in Medford, Oregon. “

We were chasing info on that thing last winter.

How do you buy something like that and only use it an hour? There must have been some sort of purpose for the purchase in the first place? Weird.

The trailer is the most intriguing part. Now I'm almost positive that was built by Tucker. I've searched A LOT for different Tucker pics for making mine into a sedan, and this is the only trailer like this I've ever seen. Wouldn't be too difficult to reproduce . . . other than the most important part- the roof. The other cool / curious thing are the four doors on the L/H side.

Dave,
They emailed me and said that the trailer was made by tucker but I didnt see any markings on it. Looks interesting! Thanks again for the gift!

Did you talk to the owners or e-mail, I haven't been able to reach them. I've tried a few times over the last 2-3 weeks but haven't had any luck. Do you have an e-mail other than craigslist reply or maybe a #? Thanks

The only email was craigslist but they did mention that they will be out of the area until just before Christmas. Sorry...
