What is the trick to getting this off? One side slide right off and was greased well. It has a crack which is why it prob came off.

Heated it a bunch and hit it hard. Nothing. At the end of the day it does not need to come off but I would like to get it off.

they make a 3 way axle puller normaly used on the older jeep axles you just tighten down smack the jack srew head with a bfh and it will pop right off the the tapered axle

That's what I had to use, but had to heat it up, let it cool, heat it up again and gave it "a tap" with a BFH. Don used the term "pop right off", but I'll say that my experience was more like a loud "BANG" followed by a faster-than-the-speed-of-light launch across my shop before nailing a healthy dent in my steel wall!

Just be careful if your puller is torqued pretty tight!:whistling:

It does not need to come off so I guess I will leave it for the future.

It looks like you had it hot and you're already there, so why not take it off and inspect what you have? On both my 443's, Tucker had installed a rubber seal in the end of the axle tubes to separate the diff oil from the axle bearing (greased), so that may be trashed. Mine was. Just say'n.....

I have several tapered tie rod/ball joint forks that work well for that. Wood splitting wedges are another alternative. Ice cubes on the axle help while heating the hub.
