OK, guys and gals, I have a request for info on a topper for my sport trac, white, 4 door, ford of course, short bed of course.

I need one since I got my dad's 3 wheel electric cart not long ago and he had a lift for it that mounts in the truck bed.........but needs to stay under cover. I would like one that incorporates the whole tailgate in the topper, but $$$ may prevent that.

any hints, used is fine long as it is not abused.

A couple of weeks ago I saw a full size Chevy truck with a topper that I think would work for you. The guy who owned it was in a wheel chair and he had a linear actuator on the topper so that it lifted the topper from one side. It was hinged on the passenger side. There was hoist for his wheel chair on the drivers side directly behind the cab. This kept his wheel chair dry on rainy days. It just so happened to be raining the day I saw it.
 
You may have a hard time getting an "off the shelf" topper tall enough to fit an electric "mobility" vehicle to fit.

My mom's won't fit under my full size (cab high) pickup topper without taking off the handle bars. Tall toppers are only like 6" taller on a full size ant it won't fit there either.
 
the height is the one problem I think there would be, but I saw one site where the topper had the tailgate incorporated into it, and it was a wedge shaped topper so taller on the back. They had a mini van and it fit fine with thier backdoor opening from the bottom up. Why I am asking is more where can I find them for the sport trac..........short bed.

Ok got some info...............not good though, they dont make one for my truck that is high enough in the door to get the lift in.............crap! Wonder if she would like a home built one, i got some paneling left over.......:clap: :w00t2: :bonk:
 
I saw a truck with a nice one, tall like you need. He kept it simple and left the back totally open. Looked nice too.

I am assuming here you mean home made. I have seen some where they actually put vinyl siding on them, I do need it to lock, this thing is kind of expensive.......the lift alone is 1400.00.

anyone have an idea on this, I am all ears
 
Yep, I meant home made Danny. The one I saw was made out of plywood and simply painted.
Leer used to make some good toppers. Not sure if they did custom jobs though. I googled
stand-up "truck topper"
and found a bunch of toppers on ebay motors. I actually didn't see a real stand-up one though, but I only scanned the 1st page of hits.
 
Thanks Doc. I did a google also, chose 'nextag' to find me a topper.............................big mistake, I got 18 emails in 30 seconds for everything but a topper. One wanted to sell me another sport trac.....hell I cant get rid of the one I got now.

I close the nextag, and added all the others to yahoo spam

still no topper, but I may look into building one.
