Tragedy today

One of my longtime neighbors and a friend of the family for many years was in a head on collision this morning. He was killed instantly. No word on the driver of the other vehicle yet. The highway was closed for several hours this morning. When I went through there shortly after lunch, I saw his small truck practically tore apart from one end to the other on the driver's side. He was my grandparent's neighbor for many years then was my neighbor when I bought their house. I worked with him a few years ago for the snowmobile club doing summer maintenance and a bit of trail work during the winter.

He lived 4 doors down from where I live now and next door to my old house. He was single and has no other family left in town. Please remember him in your prayers tonight.

I was a little worried when I heard of that accident and knew you were on your way home today. Glad to see you were not involved but knew in the back of my mind you would know who was involved. So sorry to hear the loss of your friend.:flowers:

I actually came home yesterday from the city but had to travel up to Nakina around lunchtime. I had to wait a bit before the highway reopened. It's going to be different looking down the street and not seeing him anymore. Every morning, I'd see his truck parked at the coffee shop. He had a regular routine every day. He'd go for coffee in the morning with the boys then head out to check on his parent's house out where I camp. The must have been where he was heading when he was killed.

Just got word that the two people in the other vehicle were still alive but are in serious condition and were flown out to the city.

That's very sad Brian.
I've lost neighbours too that I'd considered friends.
It's very difficult knowing you'll never see them again going about their business, or being able to visit with them again.
Hugs for you.

Life is fragile, cherish your friends and family whenever you can.

Sorry for your loss, his friends and those that lived by him too... Sounds like a guy that will be truely missed by many.

Sad. My condolences Brian. Sorry for your loss.

I’m so very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and neighbor. We never seem to take into account how fragile and precious life is until it is lost.

Thanks everyone. From what I hear, he may have been dead before he hit the other vehicle. One of the locals who witnessed the accident noticed his truck swerving back and forth before hitting the other truck. They suspect that he may have had a heart attack or stroke or something. He was in his late 40's-early 50's. But, no one will know for sure until an autopsy is completed.

I just read this thread Groomer. Im really damn sorry to hear what happened!!! Ill pray that for the two folks in the hospital. God what are the chances something like this could/would happen???? Please tell us on any update on the whole thing.

Prayers your way Brian and for the folks in the other vehicle. Your neighbor/friend will be missed. Certainly by you as well as the people who's lives he's touched along the way.
