THIOKOL TRACKMASTER 1962-MODEL-4T10
IN GREAT SHAPE POSSIBLE TRADE 970-396-1535
To recount the 'great shape'... after seller paid $1,500 for it and 'doing it up'... this list pulled together from different folks (several deals gone bad now)... I haven't seen it but talked to the seller and he clammed up. In case you are wondering why I am harsh on this... it's because what was probably a beautifully original, but worn, 4T10 has been pigged up and will be sold to some unknowing person and lost for years...and then when resold and brought back into proper snowcat-enthusiast ownership (after a healthy dose of 'true value depreciation'), then the lipstick will have to be peeled off and everything redone....it's just very annoying. "Do it once...do it right" is what should have happened... and he got it for a song (another annoying factor that just makes it all that much worse...when it should have obviously gone to the Mainer).
-Interior paint blasted over everything...fabric, oil, tape, etc...masking tape left on in many places
-Exhaust leaking into cabin from manifold either cracked or gasket required
-Clutch/brake frozen together (could not properly go through the gears)
-Front driver door sort of buckled and frame cracked
-turns better right than left (or maybe vice versa, but basically turns better once direction than another)
-Backer bars on tracks (inside bars on the tracks), are bent and many are snapped off
-Hitch beam flopping around...disconnected somewhere
-Grousers are somewhat mangled on the ends from rubber being too short so grousers wacked against objects
-Drive sprocket rubber is quite worn and will need a refresh
-No gauges are functional
-paint flaking on interior from under layer which was then sprayed over with orange...going to have to be redone or find passengers with orange lice in their hair.
-fuel line run jerry-rigged
-Runs in the exterior paint (seller says it was taken down to bare metal...not the case as underlying paint can be seen in patches),
-Passenger seat hatch stuck
-One window blown out
-Rear louvred window doesn't function
-wiper motors partially functioning, mismatched gear.
-power-divider rear cover made of plywood, sprayed orange
-misc. items screwed or wired on
so, from this, I infer that 'great shape' has now been redefined and can be communicated with some simple visual metaphors....
