We're doing some big projects around our property this summer and I figured the best way to tackle some of them is by hiring a college kid to help me out.
He and I were down the hill doing some demolition of a deck area early this evening. I had a cooler of water, soda, juice with us and we both had a couple bottles to drink so we were both attempting to stay hydrated. Started working about 5pm. Quit at 6:45. Obviously didn't work very long.
Still, he took a few swings with a sledge hammer . . . stopped . . . said he was getting dizzy. A while later, I was prying up some boards and the same thing happened to me. WTF? We quit for the evening after less than 2 hours of work.
Is it that hot out? Could we both be that out of shape? Heck we had a tractor to pull posts and do some of the demolition so it wasn't like we were actually doing that much.
Came up to the house, sat in the cool air conditioning, drank a beer and cooled off for almost an hour before he took off. I sat for another hour before I had the energy to actually eat dinner.
So I have to ask, is it the HEAT (90F) or is it the HUMIDITY (95%) that beats up the human body?
