Dave, we are getting it too. WGN's Tom Skilling just posted temps & visibilities and it looks like the far west (Aurora and west) have visibility of about a 1/2 mile. Kankakee (just south west of me) is 1/10th of a mile. The wind gusts are supposed to be 50+mph are hitting the west wall of my house and shaking the whole house. I enjoy a good storm, but we are seeing the lights flicker and when the air temps are due to go below 0 (F) then I really am not thrilled with the prospects of power outages.

sounds like how my day was until it cleared off around 1.
at 6 AM it was light breezes and close to 50.
at 7 AM, it was blowing hard, snow/freezing mix, and 25.
from 9-noon it was just about white-out conditions, but most of that was just blowing stuff, not actual accumulation.
at the moment, it's in the low teens, but the breeze has died down a lot.

good luck!

Well our lights our flickering pretty bad here. I've got flashlights ready in case I have to switch over to the generator. Visibility outside is only a couple hundred feet, and then only if you are looking at a bright light. The winds are still whipping. Could be in for a fun night tonight!

No flickering lights here, but it was NOT fun feeding the horses tonight.

I think my house is about 4" closer to Florida than it was yesterday morning. :4_11_9:

Peak wind gust at the farm was 53 MPH, and the winds held steady at 35-40MPH all night.

We got it all. 42 degrees 5:00pm Monday evening and raining. By 11:00 tuesday morning it was about 5 degrees and with then snow and wind all the area schools were closed. By 5:00 pm tuesday it was 14 below. I found a 4 foot snow drift in my driveway and sidewalk that was about 20 feet wide. Wind chill was sitting around 40 below.

12 am Tuesday morning +38° F
12 am Wednesday morning-27° F - w/gusting to 60 mph winds.

12 am Thursday morning (balmy) -12° w/ 5-10 mph wind.

(No, not Alaska, but still pretty chilly.)

We were 54 degrees 2 days ago. -7 yesterday. 15 today. Due for 7 to 9 inches of snow tonight and temps in the mid-upper 20's for the next day or two. The lovely Mrs_B is hoping for a snow delay at school tomorrow. We get those pretty regularly because of blowing and drifting. Our school district is the largest geographical district in the state and comprises the whole south part of the county and a population of under 10,000 for the whole area so there are mostly farm fields and few wind blocks to prevent the roads from blowing closed with snow.

Did anybody notice that Dave spelled "Temperature" wrong :4_11_9: I looked at this thread a couple of times and didn't notice it until today :respect:
