I noticed all the machines for sale are located in Utah.

Is that a regional Machinery Trader website or is it just a coincidence that everything is located in Utah?
 
Not quite sure if it's just a machine trader for utah or if it's courty wide. I just came accross it searching for something else. Either way, it's good to know!
 
most of these machines were bought at auction last year, aprox 25 were sold as surplus from one company,he paid alot less for most machines aprox 6000 to $9000
 
Thanks for that info... that he paid quite a bit less. There are too many opportunists out there. I'll hold out and find them as I can rather than pay some outrageous profit margin for this guy.

Anybody know how to stay in tune with Utah auctions?
 
That is one difficult thing to do. Also I have found most OLDER Snowcats are pretty much scarce. The next generation of cats will start to be available in a year or two but at a much higher price. Only time will tell.

for general interest here are some prices that the snowcats from utah power sold for on oct 12,2006
lmc 1200 pass carrier, lmc crew cab 1200, lmc pass carrier $10000 each
1200wt crew cab, 1200 cargo cab, $10750 each
1200wt pass carrier, 1200 cargo carrier, square headlight model, $12750 each
thiokol 1404 cargo carrier, 1450 cargo carrier, 1450 cargo carrier, 1404 cargo on a trailer, $6500 each
older style tracks thiokol 1450 softtop, $3000
older style track 2pass 1404, $4600
and two 1200 parts machines no tracks cargo bodies $500 each
all machines were fairly low hour machines, but showed age,all but 2 were bought by 2 buyers so I assume they will be at a dealer very soon.
 
Yea, I looked up the photos, etc...

Those cats really did show alot of age. Seems like they were really roughed up by the employees. Yea, for some of us the cats are work for some play but either way we would all keep these puppies looking like mint. After someone gets done with a FedEx truck or whatever they don't look worn to heck. These looked pretty rough.

Thoughts? Just chance? I don't know how that much wear could have happened to some of those machines with such low hours. Kinda strange.

Earlier this summer, I made a trip to SLC to check out some of these cats. I was surprized at the high prices and poor condition of many of the cats. They have seen some heavy use and not a lot of care. I didn't know that they were bought from a auction previously. I didn't see any machines that I would be interested in to purchase. :4_11_9:
