Hello again to you all.
I haven't posted often, but I just had to share my latest purchase. I bought a Thiokol 1200a last fall (pictures and story here http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/showthread.php?t=30195). I then bought a 20 ton tilt bed trailer with the intention of cutting it down to a suitable size to haul my cat. THAT trailer is sitting upside down in my unheated barn awaiting a new undercarraige. Meanwhile, I'd like to have the option of hauling my cat now!
I posted a WTB on the Snowcat Classifieds and got one offer on a really nice looking trailer (thank you Sylvia), but it's located in the Cascades. I'd have been willing to drive that far, but I was holding out for an original Thiokol Trailer.
Then low and behold, I was perusing snowcat ads on KSL.com (Salt Lake City TV Station) and ran across an ad for a couple of Spytes and Imps that said trailer available. I called and talked to Ty who it turned out was helping with an estate sale. He said there were two Thiokol trailers, one a little newer and heavier than the other. I asked if I could buy a trailer without buying a snowcat and he said, "No, they're being saved for snowcat purchasers but if we sell all the snowcats and have a trailer left, I'll call you."
I figured that was the end of it, but I got a nice surprise. Ty called back I think the same day and told me he'd decided to buy one of the Sprytes from the estate which entitled him to one of the trailers. He already had a trailer, but if I wanted one he'd get it and sell it to me at the advertised price. I'm pretty sure this meant he didn't make a nickel. Ty hauled his new purchase on my choice of trailers (the older lighter of the two) from Salt Lake to his place on Friday. I picked up the trailer from him this morning. I'm really happy with my purchase and I enjoyed meeting a fellow forum member and snowcat enthusiast. Ty, you are good people, thank you!
Here are some pictures of my "new" trailer with my Spryte sitting on it.
Now all I need is more snow!
