there was a thread here somewhere that gave a location for the wheels,,,,i cant find it anywhere. can anyone give me hand? maybe someone out there knows a good place to get the ancient 15x3 6 lug wheels. was told they might have been off a "oliver" type tractor.

Sorry SOCAL. I dont remember the thread but I am a Snow Trac guy who dabbs in Thiokols. OK so I own a bunch but no 601s. Try dropping a PM to MAINERD. I bet he knows where to find them.

Rubber is easy to find too ... there were a few threads that rubber was tricky. If you have any issues sourcing the tires let me know.

might as well give me those too. also,,,is there any other companies out there, beside fallline that do the filling of tires? what are they filled with, and should i be able to find a tire company out here in so-cal that could do it? how many tires should i get filled?

Here is the company I used for tires:
Tires:
Clyde H. Haacke
208-356-3360
CR Rubber Products Co.
275 South Pine
Sugar City, ID 83448-1156
Alpine Guide Tire Co. 800-473-3360
I also just filled the front and back tires only. Each tire had 98 pounds of poly fill in each of them. over 100 pounds for each tire. I kept the four inside tires with air. I can change the inside ones fairly easy. By keeping the weight down I can carry more or have less of a foot print on deep powder which we can get up here. Just a thought.

Les Scwab:
Gale Oil (local tire store)
Any major tire store should have a place to send them off to.

SoCal,
Try http://www.arnconet.com.. I purchased local Goodyear 4.5-12 monorail tires with superflex filled for $155 per tire plus tax. Fallline quoted $205 plus tax and frieght. Being local it was a easy decision. I contacted Arnconet local rep in Socal and he turned me to the local tire shop. They have polyurethane and foam both.. I believe that Fallline uses their Superflex product. You can find a dealer in SoCal if not try Cloureu in Bakersfield.

SoCal,
Get all of your tires filled. Superflex or Polyurethane. Get medium density as well. For your two spares you will buy (should) get those done at the same time. Get the best tires (6 to 8 ply or higher) you can find. This combo will last you a VERY LONG time and you wont have any flat tires to deal with in the field. TRUST me you dont want to be changing tires in field conditions! One of my tires which was poly filled was a 4 ply tire. The tire itself came apart! NEVER EVER go with anything under a 6 ply tire! Why the previous owner spent the time and money to have the tire poly filled but used the absolute cheapest tire available is beyond me! Its pricey but its one of those components that are so critical to get you back home.

sounds solid advice.... i heard if you fill the tires your ride is harder?

the only advice I can give if you go with filled tires get tehm filled to a pressure of 80 psi or higher mine were only filled to about 30 nand they fell apart on the front road wheels you could see divits in each grouser from the grousers. ny froint wheels have since been changed to perma groomer solid wheels.
