Cutting the logs and timbers for a cabin/house; splitting logs for heat; tilling the land with a mule; all the while finding the time and the strength to hunt and gather enough to feed the animals and put food on the table. Or starve. Or freeze.I haven't split wood in a long, long time and to be honest, I don't miss it in the slightest. I do like the tire idea though. I'll file it away with the hope that I never have to use it.
By the way, my grandfather taught me to cut and split wood before chainsaws, all done with a saw and a couple of axes. On the big stuff he split with a sledge and steel and wooden wedges. Frikkin' HARD work.

That's a good idea! I'm meticulous about rolling from the bottom to let my wife come along to just squeeze the tube like she's grabbing a baseball bat. Might serve as a training tool .............Butterfly paper clip on toothpaste tube.
