OK all you guys probably figured out I like tracked vehicles by now. I have been doing some research on conversions and stumbled across a real conversion that was done for the old TV Show LOST IN SPACE.

Here is a Thiorkol snowcat.
This is the model used as the basis for the TV show.
Consider it the BEFORE photo.

This is the AFTER photo.

And yes, the "Chariot" from LOST IN SPACE was a fully functional all terrain vehicle.
In fact after ending its carrer on the TV show, it went on to be a people transporter at a ski lodge.

Here is an item I found while floating around ebay early this am. I'm sure you're more of a purist Bob but it IS tracked......

Here

Bob,

I don't recall the details of the vehicle when I saw the show as a kid.

Inside the windshield of the "after" picture, is that a spud launcher like you want Mike to get you?

cowboyjg . . . I've actually seen several JEEP conversions, but never a mini-van. The JEEP conversions have always been done to increase floatation on snow, sand and boggy ground. That tracked soccer-mom vehicle you found looks like it was grafted over a bulldozer!

Brian . . . behind the glass on the Chariot is a computer controlled & laser guided spud gun. Its a bit more hi-tech than I am hoping to mount on my Snow Trac.

I read this thread, it's startling narrative, and the scenes from Apocolypse Now run by when Brando says quietly .... "the Horror .... the Horror ...."
