They said the same about drugs. I visited Denver and LA after legalization. Those cities are hosed due to people going to extremes with the drugs. Much like San Fran, Portland and Seattle.

Yup

I was in Denver a few months ago. Eating a nice dinner at a nice restaurant I noticed the walls were flashing in RED & BLUE, turns out a guy OD’d right outside the dispensary across the street. The lights I saw were ambulances and squads trying to save the guy.

Except sex work is completely different from drugs. It's like comparing apples with oranges.
No.

Both have desperate people doing unhealthy things. Both are generally unhealthy for society too. Yes, both have been around 2000+ years but that doesn't make them positive influences on the culture, strengthen society but both have been associated with poor family life, and to some extent poverty. Both have been involved in criminal gangs, add sex trafficking and illegal drug use together and that is also statistically highly related and intertwined.

SanFran made it illegal to be arrested / hassled for 'loitering with intent of prostitution'
the DA has publicly stated he will not prosecute anyone arrested for prostitution.

search the news - SF residents are upset / offended even.... - Mission District especially - at the rampant open prostitution going on.
for some odd reason, law abiding 'normal' citizens being 'offended' simply does not count.

Amsterdam has had legal red-light district for buckets of years. they now have a problem with tour group leaders bringing tour groups through to see the sights - and more recently with loud/drunk/high foreigners coming through a belittling / hassling the 'workers'

so it may be the world's oldest profession - but it's causing trouble in the newfanged "progressive" culture of anything goes.

Ask any serviceman who has been to Germany if they have been to The Wall or what used to be 40 mark park.
