Well folks, you've been hearing about my daughter Melen since the beginning of this forum, this weekend will mark the end of her saga in high school. Graduation festivities begin tomorrow afternoon at school, then we have a party at home on Sunday, then the actual graduation ceremony occurs Monday evening.

Congrats Bob and Mrs Bob ......and most of all Congrats to Melen. A big weekend coming up. It will be a whirlwind and make lots of great memories.
Many times the kids don't understand the big deal, it takes em a few years more under their belt and looking back they will understand and appreciate it all.

Wishing you all great weather for the festivities.

Well its RAINING NOW, but we only have a few folks at the house. My sister & brother-in-law came in from London late this afternoon and are staying with us. My brother & his family are here too (but they only live about 15 miles away). So we are inside for the evening.

Tomorrow & Sunday we'll be outside and the weather forecast for both is very good so the tent will probably provide shade from the sun rather than shelter from the rain.

WOO HOO, DANCING GIRLS AND PONY RIDES! :w00t2:well maybe not dancing girls:unsure:, and don't get a clown:ermm:, they tend to spook the ponys!:yum::yum:

have fun.:flowers:

Congratulations! It's time to start a new chapter in all of your lives! I hope all of you have a great time!

The house is beginning to stir. But just a little. I've been up for about 2 hours (thanks to the dogs). My sister (in town from London) is on Facetime and talking to her stepdaughter in Australia while giving her a tour of our house. Someone is upstairs making noise, I suspect its my lovely wife. My brother-in-law was exhausted when he went to bed last night, my guess is he will be sleeping a bit longer.

Melen was up too late with a bunch of her friends watching movies and eating junk food in our family room. I expect that we will be without her company for several more hours.

Not much on the agenda for the day. We have a Baccaloriate mass later today, I think it starts at 4:30. Then to an old Italian restaurant for dinner with the extended family.

Tomorrow is the party.

Monday the real graduation ceremony.

Wednesday at 6am the surgery on Melen's back.

Congrats!!!!! It is amazing how fast they grow up . Thanks for sharing her "growing up years" here with us old folks . Its great to see a young one spread her wings and fly !!!!

Fly little bird to new heights !!!!!!!!!!

Just got home. At 4:30 we had the Bacaloriate mass at the school. Followed that up with a slide show of the graduating seniors (not as boring as you'd imagine) and then I took the family out for dinner (9 of us) to an old school Italian restaurant that has been in the same spot since the 1950's!?! Same decor too. Known for great food.

Best part is that when the bill came my brother-in-law picked up the tab!!!

Congratulations to the whole family!!!

Wow. I'm thinking of how fast they grow up. When we started this forum, I believe she had just started... 5th grade.

Congrats!

In two more years I will be in the same spot....Time with raising a family is just a temporary phase of one's life I guess. Time sure has a way of slipping buy each year faster than the year before. Kids grow up too fast...

I wish your daughter a happy and prosperous future. And you, a happy gandfather, at some future date....

Regards, Kirk

Well my daughter's high school graduation party was today, had the relatives and her fencing buddies from high school here. All was going well . . . UNTIL . . . her insulin pump that helps regulate her type 1 diabetes failed!!! D*** pumps cost as much as a small car and always seem to fail on Sunday evenings.

Sort of puts a damper on a party when you have to break out the syringes and bottles of insulin and give yourself injections every couple of hours.

On the bright side, I spoke with the pump supplier at 8:30pm this evening and a new pump will be delivered, from somewhere in Kentucky, to my front door, at roughly 9am Monday morning. Got to give major credit where credit is due and that goes to U.P.S. "critical delivery" service.

The formal graduation ceremony is Monday evening.

After that I guess we will begin to really worry about the upcoming surgery on Wednesday.

Glad they hooked you up on the pump. There are still some companies that give service. My pacemaker co. is on the ball like that.

Bob, didn't her pump have a catastrophic failure once before???

She's a big girl and I'm sure she didn't let it ruin everything. She sure does have a lot on her plate right now though, doesn't she?

Actually every one of her pumps (this is probably #4) has failed, and I think all of them have failed on Sunday evenings

I'm simply amazed that UPS can get the device here in such a short amount of time and have to commend them for their "critical device" delivery service. This is the 2nd time that the pump company has authorized that service and they actually offered to have it at our door at 3:30am or at 9am. I told them 9am would be fine with us.
