I hope this link works.
The young man this article is about is the son a friend. Like many of us here on FF, I have way more winters behind me that I have ahead of me, but tragedies like this tear at the very fabric of my soul. I recall how this young man’s father talked of his son with pride beaming from every word. There is no pain in this life like the loss ones child but to loose a young person that had so much to offer is a particular anguish that radiates well beyond his immediate family.

That's a rough one. Sorry to hear about that.

Many of the RSO's at my range say the LEO's that use the range have some of the worst gun safety habits. Perhaps the familiarity with the tools leads them to be lazy when it comes to safety.

Dang that is a tough one. It is all about muzzle safety and unloading in a safe position. The origins of safe handling start as a youth and should never be altered for any reason.

Flags are at half mast today in Virginia due to an LEO training accident involving a drowning. The LEO's truly have a difficult, dangerous, and thankless, job.

A sad one for sure. So tough on your friend I'm sure. I hope he can recover, but it will be so tough to do.
