The Bear was back

lilnixon

AKA LILVIXEN
Sunday night the motion detector light in the front yard went on and I got off the couch to check and low and behold there was a black bear walking across the front yard going toward the willow tree (formally the bird feeder holder) about 25 feet from the porch.
John walked out on the porch and proceeded to give the bear a talking to. He told the bear to leave but it just looked at him like he was crazy. Only when John called it a "bad bear" did the critter take notice and saunter off into the woods.

:-) .. geez Jan, I think a corny joke would have worked just as well on the bear!
:poke:huh Nixon?:hide:
You know if I'd have thought of that it might have worked ! I should have started with "I live in a town so small ,that when You turn on a light the trolley stops . "

or you could have told the bear this joke:

This bear walks into a bar. Then he sits down and orders a beer. The bartender, amazed that this bear can actually talk, gives him a beer.
The bear says, "What do I owe you?"
The bartender stops and thinks for a moment.
"Even though this bear is smart," thinks the bartender, "he probably hasn’t been in many bars."
So the bartender says, "That'll be ten dollars."
The bear forks over the money and starts drinking his beer.
After a few minutes, the bartender can't restrain his curiosity, so he walks back over to the bear and tries to strike up a conversation.
"You know, we don't get many bears in this bar."
The bear looks up from his beer and says, "Well, at ten bucks a beer, I'm not surprised."

Then again, the bear may have beat you to the punchline, now that would have been funny:rolf2:

So where did you move the bird feeder?
I can't believe you just went out there and yelled at a bear  and even better....the bear did it :yum:

Nixon, what is wrong with this picture? Jan is sleeping on the couch?? and she is calling you a bear?? or I guess it was a black bear :rolf2:

Hey Nixon!!

The bear just sent me this via email.
He told me to ask you if this answers the age old question..

I haven't moved the feeders . I just haven't stocked them up .
I also didn't Yell at the Bear . I just talked to it ,letting it know I was there .
At first It just stood there .looking at Me . It was quite beautiful BTW .
After a bit it started to wander off ,then stopped to look back . I just kept talking to it and ,it finally left .

I did not know that pellet guns and talking to it were synonymous.... :poke:

Oh yeah and... :nopics:

I'm not sure what was meant by the pellet gun comment . But ,I'd never shoot a bear unless I was hunting them , Which is never .
I'll do My best to keep a camera ready ,as I'm sure that the opportunity will come up again .

I was jesting that you were shooting it with a pellet gun (which would not hurt it) to get it to leave rather than talking to it.

I can't remember where the thread was, but I know someone posted grizzly pics on here a while back... I found out I don't like big bears. :bonk: Interestingly, my high schools mascot was/is the Black Bear...

dont give the bear a reason to be around and after a bit of time it wont be.............

no need to shoot at it either, if you do that and you dont kill it, you will be it's only concern and it will kill you......

let it be and let it get the hint, no food here, move on

Get Snowcat Operations to get rid of it ! :w00t:

I read a post just the other night where he said he could shoot the ticks off a bears butt at something like 2 miles with his 349-41 MM cal "Thumblicker Special" with the matching bayonet option:thumb:. Maybe it was only a 1/2 mile ....!:glare: :flame2:

You let him shoot a few ticks off that old boy and he'll be in the next county by morning . I'll even pay $5 bucks to watch !!!:yum:

You better get rid of all the feeders. The bear now sees your property as a place food is. Hope your not on his list. There was a young lady who always fed the wild life out her back proch. They found her dead with her clothes torn off and partially eaton. The cause was a "friendly" Black bear.

So your conversation was not interesting to him? LOL

Wow, you must have been a riot on your first date!:flowers:

Did you know that Black Bears kill and eat more people than Brown/Grizzly Bears do? They can outrun a horse in a short sprint and can be on your porch before you could spin around and get back inside!

Good thing that your Oratory was up to those first dates!:yum:
