I watched a one hour show on television last night about the all-Canadian built Avro Arrow. It truly was a remarkable plane but isa real shame the program was cancelled. As with any cancelled projects, the avro arrow program holds a shroud of mystery and speculation as to why the program was really cancelled. Over night, 14,000 people lost their jobs. As time went on, nearly 50,000 jobs were lost due to te cancellation of this project.
Some say that the project was cancelled due to pressure for the american government fearing that this one plane was far superior to anything the americans had at the time.
Without notice, the project was cancelled and all plans for the plan including the 5 planes already built were destroyed. People were lilterally at work working on the plane when they were ordered to stop working, leave, and not come back.
