Test

Just a few of the pumpkins left out in the field but what does one expect with over ten acres of them used as a cover crop that did not work?image.jpg

A load of 300 buttercup squash. Only picked about half of them and still have about eight hundred pounds left. image.jpg

Thanks for the pictures

Why didn't pumpkins work as a 'cover crop' ? I think of cover crops as something to keep the soil in place; more like grass ?

Any hints on growing squash ? Mine didn't do very well this year. Marauding woodchuck didn't help.

I was thinking that the land was flooded last year that the amount of weeds would be minimal. I was wrong and it was quite the opposite with lots of weeds and more varieties than in the past. They were supposed to keep the weeds down and what I had a lot of in that area was some kind with lots of stickers and cocklebur things on the plants. My hands are finally starting to heal up from picking in them.

As far as the squash go we had minimal rainfall but at the right times. Guess I just plant them and let them go. We have a product called liquid fence that keeps the critters off.

Guess I finally was able to post pictures off my iPhone to here and that is why it is called the test. The hint of resizing them on a thread worked. Thanks for the info.

What an interesting way to farm. And so far North as well. Lots of work, but in a more concentrated way. Thanks for sharing your operations with us. Very educational for sure.

Pumpkins did very well here in the driness. The local orhcard must have 10 acers that look like they have not been harvested, they had soo many. Apple crop was like 10% of normal, due to a late frost here this spring.

I admire what you are doing. Stick to your guns a forge your way ahead. We need more farmers like you.

Regards, Kirk

You do not know half of it. One of these days when I get time I will figure out how many thousands of pounds of cucumbers and potatoes were sold.

Nice pile of veggies!

The real question is... do you have a part number for those HID light bulbs? The OEM lights on the RTV are way too dim.

Brent3272 was the seller on eBay. App 76.00. A Kubota dealer. They hooked right up to the Kubota light harness. Took the Kubota out one night, it makes a world of difference. You will not regret it.
