Swimming hole for my dogs

We have a couple of ponds by the cabin and a stream that runs 365 days a year, but when we get up to the new house there isn't any available water for the dogs to cool off and play in.

We get quite a bit of overflow from the house spring so I decided to take some of rocks (and pool liner) and make a swimming hole for them. The "pond" is by the road on the way up to the house, so properly landscaped it will become a nice visual point too.

Anyhow, here is the project so far. Started it 3 days ago and last night we put in the liner. Walked up and gave the dogs their first introduction to the pond a few minutes ago, it's a hit!

Lots of landscaping to do but so far, so good!

Jev, the liner is rubber like what an inner tube is made of. It's VERY strong, dog nails could never even begin to damage it.

It will be pretty cool when it's finished. Got a ways to go but with some trees, plants and a whole bunch of rocks it will be pretty nice.

Trimmed back the liner, cut down the blackberry bushes on the rear hill, planted some ferns from elsewhere on the property and planted some Leyland Cypress trees.

The swimming hold is way past the front gate. No turn around once you get past the fields and onto the last 1/8 mile of driveway but to get that far requires you to ignore the posted signs and to get past two gates. Right now I've got more traffic than the Wal-Mart in town, but as soon as we finish construction I will lock it all back up.
