Good morning… Joe from upstate New York …. I purchased a decent sw48 sno cat and was wondering if anyone has changed out the standard tracks for a wider stance for stability and a wider footprint. I would appreciate any info or advice … Thanks in advance.

I 've seen pics of an Sw 48 with a wider belt on the outside ,but that may have been a one off , it's pretty limited what one can do. They are definitely tippy , especially the newer cab style , the one I'm finishing will be just for plowing the yard .

I’ve been watching a lot of cats and machines on YouTube there are a lot of channels to watch I’ve been noticing the cat they use in logging with a wider stance and look like that’s how I would like to have but I think I watched on tube a guy said you have to change to longer spindles….as far as track and wheels on mine are really sound so maybe I’ll run into someone that’s done it

Ya , never seen it on a Sw48 . Best option would be to pickup a J5 or Ram Skidder and 75 percent of the running gear from a SW48 will interchange to them , you end up with 16 in grousers. There not really a Cat , I've been stuck on level ground with my J5 in 3 feet of powder. Muskeg , much better , but not a cat either , working in the bush or hauling loads they were designed for that.
